The DVD player that comes with these Bose systems is compatible with DTS multichannel audio technologies as well as with Dolby Digital equipment. The components in this home entertainment video setup are encased in durable and eye-catching black plastic. These Lifestyle 18 series systems are compatible with a variety of digital video playback formats and categories, including DVD-R, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3. Lifestyle 18 systems have an AM/FM radio component, and with the right adapter, you can hook up to your smartphone playlist and other accessories. A jack is built in for you to enjoy listening through your headphones. The Bose Lifestyle also has an HDMI cable plug to facilitate digital data transmission between the system and your TV. A convenient remote control allows you to access all the features of your Bose media center without getting up from your chair. The remote that controls Bose Lifestyle systems takes four AAA batteries. Select the device you want to control by pressing either the up arrow or the down arrow on your remote. Your remote also allows you to access electronic peripherals like the built-in AM/FM radio tuner, your VCR, and other accessories. This system accepts a variety of inputs at the rear of the device. It includes four-pin mini-DIN, RCA phono, RCA phono x 2, and TOSLINK connections, and S-Video input, S-Video output, SPDIF input, SPDIF output, audio line-in, audio line-out, composite video input, and composite video output.The Acoustimass module that’s part of this Bose Lifestyle 18 System is a component that’s specially engineered to amplify deep notes. Traditionally, speakers that focus on the low end of the audio spectrum had to be large because the woofers needed to be enclosed in a large space to amplify the sound without distorting it. Bose engineers designed a small speaker that uses columns of air to project low-frequency audio. These engineers designed unobtrusive loudspeakers that fit just about anywhere but give you high-fidelity audio and great music.The heart of your Bose 18 series home theater system is the media center component. The home entertainment system controls are located on the top left of this piece of equipment while the disc tray is on the front. Four of the system control switches correspond to your remote control buttons. The "All Off" switch allows you to turn off the system and all connected speakers and accessories in all rooms of the house. The "Source" switch lets you choose a specific set of speakers and adjust their settings.The other five media control switches offer more unique video and sound functionality. The "Enter" switch allows you to control the DVD player. Scan and select programmed modes when you use the "Enter" button with the "Store" button. Look at specific modes on the media center’s display window when you’re using these buttons. The "Erase" button helps you manipulate your radio presets. Two arrow buttons also allow you to manipulate the audio volume of the Bose unit itself.

I received this unit and started using it right away. To my delight, it worked! But halfway through a DVD that I was watching, it stopped playing and returned an error message. I tried several DVDs (including a new one) but kept receiving the same error. So I returned to USAV- of course, they didn't find any problems!
USAV sent me a partial refund but nicked me for the freight. So after over two weeks of heartburn, I ended up paying $16.00 for a trash bag full of cardboard packing material :-(

I got the CD system on Friday, May 3, but the two cables that attach to the back of the system were not included in the package. Also, no user manual was in the package. The seller, I believe is USAV Solutions inHuntington Beach, CA. Their phone, address, etc. is in the package, and I will telephone as soon as I can this week. Today is Monday, May 6.
