    Sony Mavica

I believe that the Sony Mavica is the sleeper in older model cameras. I took pictures in the Rocky Mountains using the 20x zoom. What a camera! Clear, sharp pictures every time.

IT'S OK. BUT ONLY FOR SOMEONE THAT ALREADY HAS A FD95 AND IT DON'T WORK ANYMORE, AND BUYS ANOTHER SO HE CAN STILL USE HIS OLD BATTERYS,OWNERS MANUAL,

WHERE IS BATTERY WALL CHARGER? WHERE IS OWNERS MANUAL? WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE THESE 'LITTLE UNIMPORTANT ' THINGS...

  • Worth it if the price is right, but if you have time&a bit more $ get FD97

These camera's have one of the best lenses you will find on a 2 mpixel camera. With the 10x optical zoom you have the opportunity to zoom without taking a cut in resolution. If you need it you can get 2x more (20x zoom total) digital zoom. I have used the Mavica's for years so this was an upgrade in picture quality (my older Mavica was 2 mpixel but did not have as good a lens nor so much zoom ability However there are a few reasons to prefer the mcv-fd97 over the fd95. If you are lucky you can find a mvc-fd95 that includes the adapter to allow you to save pictures on a memorystick. But it is painfully slow and does not give you the ability to save as an uncompressed file. The direct memory stick on the fd97 does not have these limitations. The floppy disk is still a good method, and ...

  • Slow to reset but takes excellent pictures.

I like the 20X zoom, and the fact that it uses floppy disks which is very convenient and also uses a memory card as an option. What I don't like about it is that it's very slow in processing the shot before it's ready to take the next shot. Also if you're using a floppy instead of a memory card, you'll be replacing the floppy every four or ten shots if you want quality pictures, although you can take as much as 30 shots per floppy if you're not too concerned about high quality shots.

  • Sony Mavica MVC FD95

I already had the MVC-FD92, its a great camera but it has a couple things I would have changed, with the FD95 I got those changes, and its amazing what a small differance it makes to me. Using the 20 zoom makes a differance over the 16 zoom I have on the FD92. I am an avid, amateur photographer, and I love taking pictures that attract the heart, the soul, and the beauty of a simple theme. I shoot thousands of pics weekly and live in a area of Arizona where I can travel to the desert or mountains within a hours drive of home. This camera is rugged and allows for many hours of wonder pictures, as long as I have the memory, I have pictures. It can be used with 3 1/2 inch floppys, I get 20 to 30 pics per floppy, depending on my settings. My FD95 also came with the floppy adapter that alows ...
