  • Awesome CPU, Awesome Seller!

This is my first encounter with the new Intel i7 Quad Core Processors. It turned out to be an amazing processor. Do not have any second thoughts about purchasing one of these. The time is right as far as price and batch quality goes. Make sure you buy one from a newly manufactured batch! I ordered the Socket 1366 i7-930 so I can easily upgrade to the 6 Core i7-980 Extreme monster when the price drops as they always do in 6 months or so. Especially when the new 8 Core and 16 Core CPUs are released to the masses. I went with the i7-930 because it can easily be over clocked to 4.1GHz on air with a good cooler and high quality heatsink compound. I'm only going to overclock it to 3.4GHz, A little better then i7-975 extreme CPU as it is the exact same chip inside. The only difference is they ...

  • If your dual core, don't got quad, go i7

I use to run a Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16ghz processor. I was debating for a long time in to upgrading to a Core 2 Quad processor but didn't want to spend another few hundred bucks on something that I would want to upgrade again shortly after. After building a Core 2 Quad computer for a friend of mine and actually comparing and personally benchmarking a Core 2 Quad Q6600 vs my processor there wasn't actually a whole lot of gain, so if I was going to spend any amount of money then why not invest it in to the next generation of processors. I purchased the i7 930 as well as a motherboard and DDR3 ram to upgrade my computer, and it not only impressed me but exceeded all of my expectations. Running the i7 930, with Asus P6T motherboard, and 6gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Tri Channel ram I am able to ...

  • Intell Core i7-930 a snap to install.

This was my first time to put together my first system. I wanted an i7 CPU but I did not want to pay a lot for it. The i7-930 was a decent price for a true i7 CPU. When I opened it it was a bit over whelming at first, mainly because it was the first time I tryed to build my own system. The instructions where simple, all you had to do was line up the notches and slide it home. After that you just put the fan on. The fan that comes with the CPU has it's own thermal paste placed onto the contact. If you wanted better thermal paste you can buy your own. The fan it self was easy to install to, all you need to do is line the pins with the holes on the mother board and make sure the power wire can reach the power connection on the mother board. One the pins are lined up to the holes on ...

  • Overclocks Great

Preformed the Same as my core i7 920 with the below specs.. With a 2.6 to 2.8 jump in frequency the chip is exactly the same as the 920. • Amazing Great Processor

Pros: I have it at 4.2 MHZ, EVGA X58 Motherboard, with G.SKILL Trident 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000), takes some tweaking in the bios, and of course aftermarket cooling like Zalman 120mm and a case with lots of perforations and great airflow and fans, with all that said, runs 35C idle and no more than 62 for a few sec under full load. Great stability, Its listed as a quad core, but its really 8 cores, wish it had 12 like the i980x. Save your money and buy this, more than $300 for a processor is not worth it economically nor will the notice in speed be noteworthy unless you plan on overclocking the 980x or 970x to 6.o mhz or above, but you will need water cooling and kill your electric bill. I bought it because i7 is the new trend and my wolfdale e8400 core 2 duo ...
