    Nomad Octopus 8-in-1 Tech Tool: Inexpensive Peace of Mind Insurance!

    Anytime you can reduce the number of tools you have to carry, and still get the job done, you're way ahead of the game. Playing for live audiences you are pretty exposed under the best of circumstances. You have to be ready to make adjustments and/or repairs quickly with minimal available time. This little 8-in-One Octopus Tech Tool is a great idea. The various nut sizes along with flat and Phillips driver is a handy kit to have when you must make a fix quickly. Is it a one tool wonder, no. There are still many (probably way too many) tools and accessories a working musician must carry. It does, however, offer the most needed nut sizes and is a really handy addition to my on-the-go kit.     When it works, it works well.

    Well, this product works good, when it works. Some guitars it fits well on and I am happy to be using a plastic wrench as I have less chance at damaging my finish. On a couple guitars, however, the well the the pot nut sits in has sides that are too steep or deep for this tool to be able to fit over the nut, so in those cases I had to go back to a standard socket. I think if this was built more like a plastic socket wrench with plastic interchangeable nut drivers it might work better.

    Sort of Helpful

    It's handy and safe for input jack tightening. At this price point I expected it to have an assortment of bits including allens for truss and lock nuts. The bit is a basic #2 Philips which is too large for bridge or intonation adjustments, same thing basically you can get at the dollar store. The size of the handle would have been nice in conjunction with eyeglass repair sized Philips and flats. I would pass for your own collection and leave this one for the full time luthiers who may get some use out of the shaped holes. Not an all-in-one solution.
