  • This album proved that Van Halen could carry on

I bought this disc because I realized that I only owned a copy of this album on cassette. I used to play sports like basketball and football when I was in Junior high and listening to some of the songs from this album was inspiring. Most people were very apprehensive about the future of Van Halen after David Lee Roth left to pursue a solo career, but this album proved that the band could carry on, shift direction and still rock. The singles from this album are actually my least favorite tracks (maybe because they were so overplayed on the radio) but tunes like "Good Enough", "Get Up" and "Summer Nights" are still great to me.

  • Blase', radio friendly nonsense

Van Halen forged a path to the top of the world of rock, with David Lee Roth's outlandish antics (and highly intelligent direction) coupled with Edward Van Halen's insane guitar theatrics. Michael Anthony and Alex Van Halen were one of the rock world's truly elite rhythm sections and together the star power of the REAL Van Halen was an inferno that unfortunately burned itself out during it's own meteoric rise. With the addition of Sammy Hagar, Edward Van Halen found a lead singer who was interested in ballads, further keyboard experimentation and competition with the AOR rock bands of the day. "5150", the band's (and best) album with Sammy Hagar, showed a new Van Halen operating, one that was apparently a bit more interested in hit singles that kicking your butt with raw power. ...

  • The rise of ‘VanHagar’ ...

The clever choice of bringing in Sammy Hagar ( after his own successes as ‘The Red Rocker’) was an obvious one. Eddie was looking to move the band in a more FM radio-hit-anthem direction with his new keyboard influenced ballads. Fans missed Roth’s over-the-top( and drunken) antics but only for a little while and ‘5150’ hit Platinum within one week of release! The suits at WB were ecstatic. The new VanHagar sound worked for two more albums, but finally imploded in 1995.

  • 5150 Van Halen 1986 Sammy Hagar

Sammy Hagar resurrects the fallen Van Halen band after front man David Lee Roth exits. The album featues such hits as "Why Can't This Be Love" "5150" and " Summer Nights". With powerful new vocals from a veteran of rock and roll(Sammy Hagar)this album stays true to Van Halen form. Every song on this album seamlessly flows from one to the other and keeps you wanting more. This one is truly lighting in a bottle. Two thumbs way up!

  • Great CD!

This is an album worth buying. 5150 is one of my favorites from Van Halen while F.U.C.K is my favorite, and I decided to purchase this to have the whole Van Hagar era on CD. I played it in my car and it sounded great, no skips no problems, 100% worth picking up!
