MEAN OLD MAN - NO FILLER, JUST MORE KILLER - JERRY LEE LEWIS STILL ROCKS!
If you're not a Jerry Lee Lewis fan already...you should be! I'm not going to suggest to you that this album is the best or most logical starting point but it is a start. This is The Killer performing covers and standards with plenty of guest star help. A follow up to "Last Man Standing" an honestly superior collection of guest star duets, this recording does still prove two things: First, Jerry Lee can still sing it and bring it! Second, this proves that Ringo Starr and the Rolling Stones weren't kidding about their heartfelt country music affection. One of the funny things is how "normal" Stones and other rock artist generated country tunes sound contrasted and combined with traditional country standards. The Killer is cousins to both Jimmy Swaggart and ... If you're not a Jerry Lee Lewis fan already...you should be! For one, it's a close contest and also shows their geographic and cultural isolation and personal competition developed a unique keyboard style all 3 share in common. Weirder still is how similar all 3 actually sound on the piano. Dare your friends to guess which one is actually playing keyboards without watching. Even Jerry Lee fans will be astonished at how hauntingly similar they all are. In any event, if you LOVE Jerry Lee Lewis you will LIKE this album. He's still alive and kicking and almost incapable of an insincere or meritless recording.

It's ok...but
I was expecting much more from "the mean old man" on this CD then he delivered. It was OK, but not great. The way they keep flying out of the seller's doors, I thought it would have much more to it, especially with all the well-known artists who added their talents to this CD. I don't think Jerry really let them shine...he seemed to want the spotlight and he sounds like an "old man" trying to sing again. Just my humble opinion folks. Oops, I must add that he is still great on piano though!I was expecting much more from "the mean old man" on this CD then he delivered. It was OK, but not great. The way they keep flying out of the seller's doors, I thought it would have much more to it, especially with all the well-known artists who added their talents to this CD.
