This film was one of Jeremy Brett's finest and was at a good price. I remember watching it when it first came out. Good price, quick shipment and arrived in perfect, new and sealed condition. Thanks very much!

I saw this on PBS many years ago and always watched for it to be repeated but it never was. I was happy to finally see a copy on eBay for sale. Item came quickly and in good condition.

Though the dvd is new, the quality of the picture is mediocre at best.

Best Version of du Maurier's "Rebecca"

I have been looking for the Jeremy Brett "Rebecca" on video or DVD for many years and am glad to finally have a copy. That being said it is not a great copy; it's pretty obvious it was taken from a video-recording that was made when it was shown on PBS several years ago. It is watchable with only one little interruption in the picture very near the end of part four. Being very familiar with the original Alfred Hitchcock version ahd having seen the one with Charles Dance, this is by far the best "Rebecca." Considering that there are no other options I was very happy to find this.

  • Very Happy

I have been looking for this version on DVD for years, but BBC has yet to release it. The DVD is not digital quality, but a little sketchy, blurry in a few areas. Like a video tape played too many times, however a must for Rebecca fans! Nice to see Jeremy Brett as George Fortescue Maximilian “Maxim” de Winter on TV again.

  • Better Than the Movie

This version of Rebecca is better than the Lawrence Olivier movie. Here, you will find out what really happened to Rebecca. She didn't just hit her head. Jeremy Brett does a great job portraying the brooding Max. Anna Massey is great playing the woman who remains fiercely loyal to the dead Rebecca and despises Max's second wife who took her place. The intensity of a disturbed woman come through loud & clear. For those who never saw the movie, Rebecca is never seen, as she is dead, yet she dominates the house & all within it. Altogether a great study in the darker side of human emotions.

  • Best adaptation

When I first saw this in 1980 I thought it was the best adaptation of one of my favorite books. I've looked for this for years, even calling the BBC and begging them to put it out. Jeremy Brett is wonderful as Max deWinter. Joanna David as the awkward heroine is perfect. I loved the sets, the photography and the evil Mrs. Danvers. The Jack Favell character was a bit off but George Saunders will always be the quintessential villain. There were a couple of scratchy bits marring the quality of the disk. Otherwise I am so grateful to whoever gave this great production its due.
