About this product

Product Information

Solid Snake returns as an older, battle-hardened veteran in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Series creator Hideo Kojima reprises his role as director as he brings the critically acclaimed stealth-action series to PlayStation 3 with a number of new elements. The futuristic setting now features expansive, war-torn environments with rival nations vying for control over both territory and technology. Sporting grizzled hair, wrinkles, and a moustache, the weary Snake also has an eye patch that pays homage to his character's inspiration, Escape from New York's antihero Snake Plissken.

Christened "Solid Eye" by Kojima, the eye patch serves as a multifunctional display that allows Snake to view infrared signals, radar, and more. As Snake sneaks through bombed out areas, interior locales, and other detailed environments, players will be able to shape the cinematic storyline through their in-game actions. Missions can be accomplished in multiple ways, and Snake's decisions during the course of play will influence how characters react to him. As in previous games, players can attack enemies in close quarters combat, wear disguises, perform acrobatic moves, use a variety of inventive gadgets, and call on familiar characters for assistance and information.

    A masterpiece.

Hideo Kojima’s 4th chronological entry into the Metal Gear franchise is a cinematic and gameplay masterpiece that elevates and advances the fabrics of the brand. Upon initial release, it’s online companion Metal Gear Online (2) provided some of the most unique gameplay and diverse character creation system that can be found in modern gaming. The story mode campaign is heavy on the cinematics but blends seamlessly into the gameplay. Controls feel fluid and has aged gracefully while bringing a legendary chapter in Solid Snake’s life to a good resting point

  • Metal Gear Solid 4 concludes the series well

Metal Gear Solid 4 was a great game with excellent graphics, story, and gameplay. There was one major flaw in the game, though. There was TOO much story, nearly half of the game is cinemas and this gets in the way of the excellent gameplay system that was set up. The graphics are superb, with realistic characters and scenery 24/7, although I thought Otacon's character design was a bit bizarre looking. The major problem with the game is that the cinemas really do not stop. This also reduced game difficulty towards the end of the game, the final boss was WAY to easy. Personally, I liked Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater the best, because it had more gameplay than cinemas (the way it should be) and plenty of challenges, like the first Metal Gear Solid on PS1. MGS4 is great but ...

  • This GAME is bad azz, I love playing this game

Most people are playing PS4 games but if you're tired of buying a new game system and games every couple of years then get this game. It has excellent quality in graphics and has good storyline.

  • One of the Best PS3 Games Ever!

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a fantastic game! The box and disc arrived in good condition with no issues. Even today the graphics in the game have aged well and the gameplay, sneaking, story and soundtrack are all amazing! If you have a PS3, you need this game.

  • The final mission for Snake ?

I bought this game cause i love this series ! what else ?! ;) But there is a paradox in this MGS4: it's a great game but if you didn't play the 3 first games on PS1/GC & PS2,you won't be able to understand all the story and all the flashbacks (and there are a lot of them !!!). It takes me 24h to finish this MGS4. I have 2 regrets for this game: 1) this game is too easy for those who have already play any mgs games. 2) the videos/cinematics are astonishing but there are too many of them !!! They take (at least) half the time of the entire game !!! So the gamer feels more spectator than actor (especially in the 2 last hours, a little syndrom from MGS2 ?) But, in the other hand, this game is a must-buy for all the lovers of this saga and because technicaly it takes the PS3 far far away ...
