About this product

Product Information

Like earlier games in The Elder Scrolls line, Oblivion is designed to present a living fantasy world that gamers experience on their own terms. The game is populated with over 1,000 NPCs, each leading a full life, following regular schedules according to their individual wants, needs, and positions. Players are encouraged to interact in the world as they choose, as noble heroes, greedy villains, or anything in between. The game's main story is designed to conform to characters of any moral bent, and plenty of side-missions provide extra adventuring for all.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion -- Game of the Year Edition includes the original version of The Elder Scrolls IV as well as the Shivering Isles expansion and the Knights of the Nine expansion.

    Great game!

I love this game! Good graphics and a compelling world and story-line to immerse yourself in. I'm a huge fan of the elder scrolls games. This game is an old friend that I've played many times before and while recently revisiting Morrowind I got to thinking about the Dark Brotherhood quest line in Oblivion which is my favorite and knew I had to play it again. Had to order a replacement though as I had lost my copy during a recent move.

  • I'm only surprised by what is not possible in the game.

Our household recently acquired a copy of the PS3 version of the game. We were quickly drawn-in by the sheer scope, each of us for our own reasons. One thing that surprised me though, was that certain things (like lighting a campfire, setting an item down on a table instead of dropping it on the floor, tying your horse to a tree so it doesn't wander off if you have to rest your character for a few hours,) are either not implemented, or we haven't been able to figure out how to do it. Not huge flaws by any means, just surprising, considering the depth of other engagements with the character's surroundings. However, I soon learned that the PC version of the game has -way- more content, with expansion packs, plug-ins, and downloads; AND the awesome ability to modify/add to the existing ...

  • Best playground game. Period.

While I'm still partial to Morrowind and still play it on rare occasion, I also play Fallout 3, Bethesda's newest game. I think of Fallout 3 as an extension of Oblivion. Oblivion is great, and that means Fallout 3 is great. About a year ago, I lost my copies of Morrowind GotY and Oblivion GotY in a drastic turn of events. I lost a lot of stuff, and I'm trying to get back all the stuff I miss from back then, including Oblivion. However, when Fallout 3 came out, I considered sticking with just it, because it was supposed to be like Oblivion but better, newer. I honestly got sick of it. The theme just doesn't appeal to me as much. Also, Oblivion wasn't as demanding of system resources. Moving on, I started looking for the GotY (Game of the Year) edition in stores, and it was nowhere to be ...

  • Awesome RPG

I'm not going to go where everyone has already been in my review of this game except to say that if you have a system that can handle it the graphics are outstanding! Whats a system that can handle it? Well...for a test I installed this on my old 2.6Ghz P4 Northwood with a crappy Glendale 400Mhz fsb motherboard. This motherboard only has pci slots on it, & the best card that will run on it is a pci Nvidia 6200 card. Crippled as that may sound it still managed to be playable with most game settings set to low-med. Then I tested it out on my, also old, 3.0Ghz HT P4 with an 800Mhz fsb, & an agp Nvidia 7600GS 512 MB video card overclocked right from the factory. Now this is just so much better! So this test has shown that the 3.0Ghz with a good AGP card would be my recommended min ...

  • Oblivion

I have played Morrowind and I wanted to see if the effects experienced would be the same in Oblivion. They are. The graphics, the sounds (both for/background) are great. The sound track is as if it were from a good movie. The characters strike conversations with each other on there own, whether you join in or not. You can buy houses in a number of cities, even though it usually means more than just a transaction of money, you must complete a task or two for consideration of being a buyer. The greatest and most dangerous part about the game is the time travel. You sit down and your totally enveloped in the story/quest and when you look around yourself to take a breather you might it it 3, 4 or even 7 later. It feels like you just sat down to play, but somehow you have gone through a time ...
