About this product

Product Information

The sequel to RayStorm, RayCrisis: Series Termination takes place in a time when the future of mankind hangs in the balance. Determined to create the ultimate neural interface between man and machine, a rogue scientist named Leslie McGuire cloned herself and hardwired the clone's mind into directly into Con-Human, a powerful, worldwide computer network. Con-Human's AI quickly took over the clone's consciousness and was driven insane. Unable to comprehend the complexities of sentience and the human psyche, the Network went on a killing spree that wiped out most of Earth's 13 billion citizens.<br><br>The survivors of this dark future escaped to a series of underground cities that had been designed for shelter in the unlikely event of Earth getting hit by an asteroid. Many of these hardy souls escaped the Network and the planet itself via space vessels while others elected to remain behind in order to disable the Network. The assault (code-named Operation Meteor) on the Network failed miserably. However, there is one last hope for the future of Earth, namely you and your piloting skills.<br><br>You are at the helm of one of three Wave Rider experimental fighters, each equipped with the WR-01 primary weapon array, WR-02 secondary lock-on laser system, and WR-03 single-use weapon for emergency situations. The lock-on missiles help you aim (a cursor) at and shoot enemies that are of a different altitude than your ship. Other weapons include wide shot, laser, homing laser, thunder laser and photon torpedo. Special weapons can only be used when they've been given time to fully charge.<br><br>As with most shooters of this type, your objective in the game is to dodge, weave and blast your way through wave after wave of alien ships. After destroying an item carrier, you can pick up one of a number of power-up items that increase the power of your shot, increase the maximum number of lock-ons, decrease the percentage of erosion, give you a bonus ship or double your current score. Two modes of play are available: Original, which lets you select three of five levels, and Special, which takes you through seven levels using a fully powered ship.<br><br>RayCrisis: Series Termination is analog control and vibration function compatible. It also supports the PocketStation, a special memory card with an LCD screen and simple controls. Released only in Japan, the PocketStation lets you download certain games from your PlayStation and play them on the go.

  • Ray Crisis

RayCrisis is third game in the Ray series and isn’t the “Best” but it still quite good. The game hasn’t aged as good as RayForce because the last two games were polygonal rather than sprites but still remain colorful and intriguing. Gameplay what can I say... it’s a shoot em’ up through and through and with a locking on mechanics that’s very addictive. Gameplay is a solid 8 out of 10 for me. Far as the music, it’s okay in my opinion. The music doesn’t pump me up as much as the others in the series. I would say get this game if you haven’t played! It’s a must if your a ps1 guy because far as I know it hasn’t been rereleased and the price isn’t that bad.

  • Good for fans of the series, but you can probably do better.

This is a hard one to write a review for, because it gives with one hand and takes away with the other. On the positive side, it has a different feel that is refreshing to people familiar with shooters. It has more varied types of ships and also a system for selecting the order in which you progress through the stages, sort of like Lightening Force for the Sega Genesis. The bad side is that the stages don't look as good as the previous games, and the bosses come off as kind of generic. The game is definitely good for fans of the series who want a twist on something they already like, but won't really wow people with it's design. You can do better than this, especially on ebay, but for the price it's still a good game.

  • semi-old school

When I got this I thought great another SHMUP! But the difference from previewing the game on youtube and actually playing it is big. I didn't particularly like this game. In my eyes all SHMUPS should be in 2D. This game is in 3D with a typical 2D SHMUP gameplay. It may have been a great game when it came out but playing it now after playing games like espgaluda it just doesn't compare. Music is okay. It's techno which usually fits in a SHMUP. But to me the music was lacking and YES sometimes music can make or break a game. It's just not invigorating enough. It doesn't give me the motivation to say to myself, "YA! Let's DO THIS!" while I play. I was disappointed because a lot of SHMUP fans say this is a must have if you are a fan and it ended up being not that great. IDK, eveyone has ...

  • Good game

  • Gioco Di Astronavi Ben Realizzato! Puro Coinvolgimento!

- Buon Divertimento!
