About this product

Product Information

ABC's BENSON took the butler (played by Robert Guillaume) from SOAP and gave him his own show. In the first season of episodes Benson is sent to tend to the needs of state governor Gene Gatling, who is the cousin of SOAP character Jessica Tate. Benson soon finds himself falling out with some of Gene's helpers, but he finds a few allies as well, and it's not long before he's helping everyone out with some well-timed advice on all of their problems.

    Benson - The First Season

    Benson is funny as always. He keeps the governor's mansion running smooth and keeps the governor out of all kinds of trouble. He also keeps the governor's aide Taylor in line. Taylor is such a snot. Marcy counts on Benson to keep the governor straight. Katie also counts on Benson to help her out with her dad and I just love the governor - he is soooo goofy and Katie is a doll. Benson even keeps Ms. Krause in line. I love the episode where her and Benson were stuck in the cellar and the fire department had to rescue them. One of my favorite episodes was the first episode where Benson is being chased by the dogs and also the episode where Katherine Hellmond goes out on a date with the Count and he dies. She has to call on Benson for help.

    Great to see this high-quality television sitcom now available on DVD. Although the visual quality is not entirely what we have become accustomed to, I have watched the episodes in this first season with lots of pleasure and hope subsequent seasons will be released on DVD soon. The extras, including interviews with actor Robert Guillaume and several other cast members, as well as with the show's producer or director, are also very enjoyable. I can highly recommend fans of this TV show purchase this DVD.
