    Through the eye of the looking glass.

    I'm not a professional photographer, but having used cameras for many years whilst travelling the globe, photography grew on me (so to speak). The first time I bought a Nikon camera, I immediately realised how much better my photos could have been. This particular lens is my favourite. Its fast, and responsive, and makes up for my lack of experience. I'm just getting used to the manual modes, but I still think the quality of the product helps me out endlessly :-) I would recommend this lens to anyone getting into photography, as its so image sharp, and fast.

    I would expect better from Nikon...

    OK, so it is not the most expensive of Nikon lenses but the image quality is disappointing. A very handy range for a 'walkabout' lens but it won't win any prizes without post-production software. Colour fringing is its worst aspect and if you want a decent image in high-contrast cases, be prepared to spend time with photoshop.
