About this product

Product Information

In the sleepy English countryside of decades past, there is a town that has stood on a jut of granite for six hundred years. And immediately to the east stands a high stone wall, for which the village is named. Here in the town of Wall, Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to the hauntingly beautiful Victoria Forester. One crisp October night, as they watch, a star falls from the sky, and Victoria promises to marry Tristran if he'll retrieve that star and bring it back for her. It is this promise that sends Tristran through the only gap in the wall, across the meadow, and into the most unforgettable adventure of his life.In the sleepy English countryside of decades past, there is a town that has stood on a jut of granite for six hundred years. The only issue I have with this purchase is the cover is not the one I wanted. I looked through the descriptions to see if there was anything saying it would be something other than what was shone, but didn't see anything... could of been an oversight on my part... but I definitely would not of got this book if I knew the cover was what I got (can't help it, I'm a visual person). Other than that, book's condition was as described and I received it in a timely manner. Thank you!!!

  • Stardust

I purchased the book because an on line review had compared the author to Dougla Adams, who is among my favorite authors and unfortunately deceased. While I wouldn't agree with that comparison, Gaiman is an excellent author in his own right and has a distinctive style all his own. I enjoyed the book very much, and anyone who enjoys stories of adventure, parallel worlds, fairies, witches and warlocks should find it a great read. Mike.

  • Never thought I'd be saying this

I never thought that I would ever see the day where the book I just read would leave feeling disappointed and wanting more. I commonly have books that I don't want to end, those fantastic epic novels that take you far from your life, and place you in a dream world, Stardust was NOT one like that. After watching the film, after reading the book of course, I found that the movie was more descriptive in sections where, obviously, the book should have been immensely better. I know that directors take creative liberties with novels to make them "Silver Screen" worthy, but in this case, I think the director did a better job of telling the story than the author. In one section entirely, the entire sequence involving the ship, and the sky pirates, was totally uninspired in the novel, it was more ...

  • I like this book, although it was short & a fast read

It took me 2 days to finish, but it kept my attention and entertained me the entire time. A cute story with enough bad guys to keep them running, throw in a sibling murder spree and heart cutting out witch, a unicorn and you've got a pretty nice little tale. I did just see the movie today and they do deviate from the story and take a few creative sidetracks, but that's another review.

  • Stardust novel to movie compairison

I really loved the "Stardust" movie so I decided to read the book to see if the screenplay cut out any juicy bits or important characters (like tom bombadil in LOTR...). The movie version leaves out most of the first 200 pages of the novel, only keeping key characters and key plot ideas. There is an un-named charcter in the book that plays an big part in the novel that is not included in the movie. Although the cinematic version of "Stardust" includes many of the same characters, their names are different and personality traits differ to add drama and action. To be honest, I was disappointed with the book as I didn't feel that it had a very strong climax, or that Tristan and Yvaine's relationship's evolution seemed realistic. I also felt that the epilogue fell short of my ...
