    Great short scale bass

    Perhaps targeted at guitarists? ... this short scale bass looks and feels like a guitar and seems ideal for guitarists looking to experiment with bass. For the price this Gretsch ss bass is great quality and very impressive. The pickups are punchy with presence and might be single coils and not mini hums, according to reviewers who have taken the pickups apart to determine. Based on the presence and punch of these p'ups my example certainly sounds like single coil pickups and I could not be more pleased. The only niggle is with the tone control which has a minimal impact on tone, but who uses the high-end rolloff cap on a bass anyway? I just wish Gretsch (actually fender) would use the exact same pickups on a 6- string instead of their somewhat hollow P90 efforts. The quality of ...
