Had a salt based chlorine generator (Pentair IC40) from the start and loved it. Yes, like anything else there is a “life span” and it will need replacement. This is our third (old pool) but for the ease of use and gentle feel of salt water on the skin, there will be a fourth when we need it. Some people believe it’s a high maintenance system. I believe just the opposite. Hate messing with chlorine products, which seem impossible to find right now. So, that’s my opinion and review. Check it out is my advice.

Defective Pentaire product
Ordered both power center and chlorine generator to replace an older unit that had worked for more years than I know. The Chlorine generator lasted a day and a half and failed. Had registered it online with Pentair warranty. This was an easy slip in, replacing old units spot. When called Pentair customer service for warranty they wanted verification that power supply was as it should be and made me pay to have one of their certified technicians install it and check out system. That cost $ 135.00 plus tax. Exactly what I was trying to get away from. Remember when you buy from Y-not Pool they don't accept it back and the only recourse is Pentair warranty. I may as well as had the dealer put it in in the first place. Would have cost the same. Despite what they say, ethically, Pentair should have covered the cost of the technician. It was installed correctly with a good power supply. Your product failed Pentair, why penalize Me? I would look at another brand if I had to do it over... The Pentair technician made the comment while installing replacement, "yes, we get defective ones all the time". Whether said to make me feel better or the truth, don't know. You are on your own 50-50 crap shoot. The guys who got a good one will review this as a wonderful product. It should have been me.

Salt Generator
My third pentair salt generator in 15 or so years. Product was delivered as expected, new in original packing. I installed it in less than 15 minuets and it has been working properly ever since. This price was the lowest I found as I searched for a few days before purchasing. Would buy again when needed.
