Designed for Windows and Mac PCs of home, SOHO users and entrepreneurs with a small setup, the 1 TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex is a Wi-Fi hard drive. You can connect the Seagate external HDD with the Wi-Fi router via the Ethernet interface for wirelessly accessing your files using the PC. The in-home cloud storage in the Wi-Fi hard drive helps you store data in online servers where you can access it anywhere and anytime through smartphones or web browsers. The Time Machine software allows the 1 TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex to automatically and continuously backup the data from up to three different PCs simultaneously. Additionally, you can increase the storage capacity of your network by simply replacing the higher-capacity drive unit on the base of the 1 TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex without the need for any additional tool. With the GoFlex Access, the Seagate external HDD lets you download free apps from the App Store or Android Market.

    If you're an IT person, you'll hate it.

    If you want to have a networked storage device that takes care of things for you, this is a decent device. If you're an old hand at computer networks and expect a network attached storage device that allows you to allocate named shares, user access permissions, and quotas, you will be as disappointed with this product as I was. What they refer to as a "share" is a file you want to share with other people. What you and I would call a "share" is hard-wired. "GoFlex Home Public", "GoFlex Home Private", "GoFlex Home Backup", and "External Storage". You can load folders full of files into those sharenames, but you cannot change the share names. I'm using it, but I'm not delighted with the implementation. If you want a traditional NAS unit where you can administrate it fully, look ...

    Useless since Seagate stopped supporting this devices.

    Product cannot be used anymore since Seagate stopped the support for services and servers needed to register new users so, if you reset this to factory settings, it renders it useless. I cannot use the one I purchase for this same reason. Expensive paperweight.
