It works... if it's what you need.
Let me preface this by saying that this is a sort of nitch product. It can be viewed as a sort of stand in for a boom. However, it has some drawbacks. If you are using a heavy microphone, this unit may cause your mic stand to be somewhat unstable. I also suspect that it will have a limited life expectancy, although it works well now. I am skeptical about the point of contact with the mic stand. It doesn't appear all that solid. But again, I'm using it now and it seems to be functioning well. I use a light weight mic on the arm. I tried a heavier mic and it allowed the mic stand to tip over with only a slight bump. My stand also has a conventional boom on top and this arm for an acoustic instrument mic. Light, convenient and sturdy.
I put a slide mic boom on this and hook it all to my music stand so that I just transport the music stand and don't have to carry a mic stand also..It has worked well for the last 4 years but the weld gave way so had to get another...won't be pulling on the boom to move the whole stand from now on...would recommend this to anyone.

Better than the flat brackets!
The adjusting section of this bracket is built like a tank, unlike most booms with a counter weight. I also bought one of the top mounting units. Now I can put dual heavy mics on an acoustic or mid-side for vocals from one stand- much less space needed and easy to move!
