Hardware good, software not so much...
This review is mostly about the Focusrite Control app, not the hardware. Everything works together very well once one figures out how to configure the inputs and outputs in the app, but that is not easy to do. In my case, I have a line input from a loadbox (connected to an amp) which I use when I want all effects from my pedal board and none from the DAW, and a guitar cable (wireless as it happens) when I want all the effects to come from the DAW. The instructions don't at all make it clear how to setup for those use cases, so I basically ended up guessing until it worked. I'm still not entirely sure I have it correctly configured - in the case of the line input, sound comes out of only one speaker rather than both.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good hardware. The "bonus" software isn't worth getting a new one.
The hardware is quite nice as far as my experience goes. I don't have anything fancy, and it sounds good without any noise - much better than the cheap USB adapter I was using. It supports high sampling rates and low latency with ASIO drivers. It's powered over USB, so you get one fewer cable. The software to control the 4i4 is nice enough, although it did take me a moment to figure out what exactly it's doing. I wanted to get a new one so I could use the bonus software it is bundled with, but it doesn't seem like that was worth it. The free software out there is as good or better than this and then you don't have to deal with weird licensing programs. A used one for cheaper without the software bundle would have been fine.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Interface sounds great. Sofware is a problem.
The software that is given with this product is only good for six (6) months. No were was this discussed in the sales literature. But it is stated when you setup the box. I don't intend on use of software that lasts only 6 months. I purchased Presonus Studio One for my DAW sofware. Best audio ever!
I was skeptical about upgrading to the 3rd generation audio interfaces from Focusrite, but the minute i started recording with my synthesizer, i was blown away. Used to own the 2i2 (2nd gen), and it was doing its job very well, now the 4i4 I bought recently has better audio imho, it has midi connections, etc. I'm very pleased with it. Its new functions Air and Pad are very useful
