I am very pleased with my purchase. I bought this book “used” at a very reasonable price but find it to be like a brand new copy. Thank you so much.

Cook book readers...you know who you are!

Enjoyed reading the recipes and excerpts . Reminds me of the stories my Grandma Min would tell me about food- and lack of - supplies but how they made it through.

  • Harding and Wilson Great Depression when Presidents didn't care caused the Great Depression.

Just good reading for the time era when there was a Great Depression how people had a hardship and survived to stretch their money or no money.

  • Depression Era Recipes

Simple and very tasty foods that make use of everyday cooking items not specialty needs. Shows what a little love and time can give in return. These foods didn't cause cancers, ADD or ADHD, kdney, liver heart and colon problems unless you overeat. Only problem is that some directions are left open ended with the last few words or numbers . Little irritating huh.

  • Depression Era Recipes

In this cookbook, some things are worded a little bit different, but it is still a very good collection of recipes. And there is a list of substitutions in the back of the book that further explains, as well as a chart that explains the oven temperatures (that are in the book as "Very Slow," "Slow," "Moderate," etc.) It tells you what you should heat your oven to so that you don't have to do any guess work. As a whole, I really enjoyed this cookbook. It even has some added poetry as a bonus. (Some are really cute.)

  • Nostalgic

The introduction made me smile because it reminded me of my grandmother saving anything reusable from plastic bread wrappers to foil pie tins and later, plastic margarine containers. My grandparents and parents came to the US from Europe after WWII and there were many similarities scrimping, saving and using what little you could afford to eat. Interesting recipes and "how to" articles like various ways to make coffee (we didn't have Mr.Coffee, Keurig or Starbucks back in the early 60s when I was a kid). Love the nostalgia as well as recipes.
