    Simple Writing Curriculum That Yields Great Results

    I have a very hesitant writer and have now purchased this 2 years in a row because of how flawlessly this worked for us. The format is simple, easy enough to follow that it's written exclusively to the writer and my 10-12 year old had no problem following along on her own. I love the step by step instructions and I simply could not believe how much her writing improved in just one year.

    Writing Strands

    The Writing Strands guide helps budding, as well as reluctant, writers to learn the important structures of the writing process in a thorough, yet appealing and fun way. The author writes in a communication style. As the student reads through assignments, it is as if the author is right in the room teaching and coaching writing. I have a reluctant writer in my home and this series has helped him develop the skills necessary without overwhelming him to where he tunes out and turns off.

    Writing Strands

    The book looked brand new, no bend edges, etc. It was in better shape than some that I have ordered that claimed to be new. The book arrived much faster than I had expected. The book is being used in my language arts curriculum. It is a great resource for teaching writing to upper elementary students.

    personal but not very challenging

    I liked that personal way the author speaks to the student but I didn't feel like the assignments were challenging or worthwhile. The fact that he spends several lessons writing the "perfect" sentence seemed a little infantile for a 13-14 year old level.
