Synopsis
Robert McKee's screenwriting workshops have earned him an international reputation for inspiring novices, refining works in progress and putting major screenwriting careers back on track. Quincy Jones, Diane Keaton, Gloria Steinem, Julia Roberts, John Cleese and David Bowie are just a few of his celebrity alumni. Writers, producers, development executives and agents all flock to his lecture series, praising it as a mesmerizing and intense learning experience. In Story, McKee expands on the concepts he teaches in his $450 seminars (considered a must by industry insiders), providing readers with the most comprehensive, integrated explanation of the craft of writing for the screen. No one better understands how all the elements of a screenplay fit together, and no one is better qualified to explain the "magic" of story construction and the relationship between structure and character than Robert McKee., Robert McKee's screenwriting workshops have earned him an international reputation for inspiring novices, refining works in progress and putting major screenwriting careers back on track. I ordered two books from this seller at once; the order shipped and arrived in good timing. One book was in good condition, as described, but one did not match the description. Seller was cooperative in the return and refunded quickly. Overall positive experience.

      Belongs in every storyteller's toolbox

I've only just breached the surface here, but from what I've read so far, I can tell this book is going on my permanent writing reference shelf. McKee knows his stuff and how to communicate it. I originally purchased this title as a supplementary resource suggested by Neil Gaiman's masterclass in storytelling, figuring if someone of his stature and experience found it useful, I might too. And I will be forever grateful that I did.

    • Story Review

Excellent book, a real eye opener. The tools the author has provided in this work is invaluable to writers in all areas, whether it be screenwriting, novel, or even periodical submissions. The elements are presented in the easiest to-follow written style, and clear cut language anyone and everyone will benefit from.

    • The best book of its kind

Robert McKee is a master of the craft, and Story gives you all of the insight of his legendary three-day screenwriting seminar. A must for any kind of writer, it succinctly deconstructs the timeless and universal elements of storytelling in a way that will help writers understand how to strip the wasterful expository writing that too often bogs down a story and use only scenes that advance a story, give it meaning and hold the audience's attention.

I college studying animation, this book has been of great value in laying out my assignment. It was highly recommended by my professor too.
