About this product

Product Information

NATIONAL BESTSELLER - I n his work as a Miami crime scene investigator, Dexter Morgan is accustomed to seeing evil deeds--particularly because, on occasion, he commits them himself. Dexter's happy existence is turned upside down when he is called to an unusually disturbing crime scene at the university campus. - The Killer Character That Inspired the Hit Showtime Series Dexter Dexter's Dark Passenger--mastermind of his homicidal prowess--immediately senses something chillingly recognizable and goes into hiding. Dexter is alone for the first time in his life, and he realizes he's being hunted by a truly sinister adversary. Meanwhile he's planning a wedding and trying to learn how to be a stepfather to his fiancƩ's two kids--who might just have dark tendencies themselves. Macabre, ironic, and wonderfully entertaining, Dexter in the Dark goes deeper into the psyche of one of the freshest protagonists in fiction.

Killer Acclaim for Jeff Lindsay's DEXTER Novels: "It's like very little else you've read. Imagine if Hannibal Lecter starred inCSI: Miami, and you're halfway there." -Time "Maybe the first serial killer who unabashedly solicits our love." -Entertainment Weekly "The real appeal of this macabre tour-de-force is Dexter's sardonic voice, so snappy and smart, and yet so full of self-loathing that we hate ourselves for laughing." -New York Times " . . . fascinating, entertaining, and brilliant. Let Jeff Lindsay introduce you to the serial killer next door-Dexter (and his Dark Passenger) are the freshest, most terrifying creations you are ever likely to meet . . . and live to tell about." -Robert Crais,New York Timesbestselling author "Totally captivating . . . totally original. The characters are beautifully drawn, particularly Dexter, who is tremendously likable, his hobby notwithstanding." -St. Petersburg Times, "Lindsay's bad boy is back." -Marilyn Stasio, The New York Times Book Review "Wonderful. . . . Darkly amusing. . . . Our handsome murderer may consider himself emotionless, but his sheer joie de vivre or joie de mourir is both obvious and contagious." - The Boston Globe "[Dexter's] adrenaline-pumping gore factor is balanced with large doses of hilarious black humor. Any writer who can make his readers love a serial kill must be doing something right." - USA Today "An entertaining, funny series that draws us in and makes us root, almost against our will, for a ruthless, yet appealing killer. In his own way, Dexter is trying to make the world a better place." - The South Florida Sun-Sentinel, "Lindsay's bad boy is back." Marilyn Stasio, The New York Times Book Review "Wonderful. . . . • Dexter Disillusioned

Up to this point I have loved the Dexter series. Trying to get through this book was a chore. Jeff Lindsay decided in this book the villian should be a 3000 year old God that scares away Dexter's Dark Passenger. Dexter in response feels empty and find he can't do his usual work without the missing inner voice. UMMMMM.... WHAT?! Exactly! The only thing that kept me reading this installment of Dexter is Dexter's witty internal monologues which are still somewhat diluted from his normal humor by his whining of his missing passenger. Here's hoping the next installment brings us back to a normal universe where Dear Dexter is up against something a little more down to earth.

  • Amazing quality!

The book itself is basically brand new and in great condition! Iā€™m really excited to read it

  • Dexter review

As usual, this Dexter novel rocks. It is the third in a row about a lovable Serial killer, who works for Miami Police dept. He looses track in this book, as his "Dark Passenger" takes a walk without him. Great story, and twists, as I have come to expect from Jeff Lindsey. Would definatly recommend. I think the stories need to be read in order to really appreciate all the intricacies of the Dexter personna...But even alone they are a great read.

  • Dexter In the Dark Review

Another excellent "Dexter" book. The third on in the series. I have all four and have pre-ordered the fifth in the series. Excellent tv show....my favorite of all time, actually and the books are very good as well. The book came promptly and was in very good conditon. The large nice paperback, not the mass market type.

  • dexter rocks

I love SHO dexter series. I am a fan of dexter morgan. books 1 and 2 stick exactly to the series. this book ventures off on to dexter's personification. i enjoyed both book and tv series. dexter is interesting in both book and tv show. the only thing is that the tv show actually starts exhibiting some feelings, like if human part of dexter deep within is trying to come out at times. the book does not do that. i like both book and tv series.
