Synopsis
*NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE starring Paul Sparks, Caitlin FitzGerald, and Ethan Slater* Based on the true account of a boy's harrowing journey through the vast wilderness of Mount Katahdin, Lost on a Mountain in Maine is a gripping survival story for all ages. Twelve-year-old Donn Fendler steps away from his Boy Scout troop for only a minute, but in the foggy mountains of Maine, a minute is all it takes. After hours of trying to find his way back, a nervous and tired Donn falls down an embankment, making it impossible for him to be found. One sleepless night goes by, followed by a second . . . and before Donn knows it, almost two weeks have passed, leaving him starving, scared, and delirious. With rainstorms, black bears, and his fear of being lost forever, Donn's journey is a physically, mentally, and emotionally charged story told from the point of view of the boy who lived it. Don't miss this thrilling survival story, a proven high-interest winner that pulls in readers the way Hatchet , My Side of the Mountain , and the I Survived books do., *NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE starring Paul Sparks, Caitlin FitzGerald, and Ethan Slater* Based on the true account of a boy's harrowing journey through the vast wilderness of Mount Katahdin, Lost on a Mountain in Maine is a gripping survival story for all ages. When twelve-year-old Donn Fendler gets tired of waiting for his father and brothers to join him on the summit of Maine's highest peak, he decides to find his own way back to camp. But Donn doesn't expect a fast-moving fog to obscure his path, knocking him completely off course. He doesn't count on falling down an embankment that hides him from sight. And he never could have imagined taking a wrong turn that leaves him alone to wander aimlessly for nearly two weeks in the empty mountain wilderness. A true and inspiring story about a boy's harrowing journey through nature's unforgiving terrain.

    Inspiring Read

Even though nearly 80 years since this story happened, it still applies to today. The courage and ingenuity of Donn Fendler is a good example to any young boy (or girl). I read this book as a child and couldn't put it down and now I've given it to my grandchildren. I hope they will enjoy it as much as I did, learn from it, and be inspired just as I was.

  • Lost on a Mountain in Maine

What a wonderful book! A young man lost taking us through the emotion of it, the wet, the cold, the bugs....the determination to make it out. The highs and lows of finding cabins but not much of help but a little gleaned in each place. Boy Scouts training helped him enough to follow the water and keep going in the face of bleeding feet, loss of weight and sooo many bug bites. Short compelling read for young me. I can't wait to give it to my 12 year old grandson.
