Carl R. Rogersone of the Outstanding Contributions to Psychological Thought in the Last Fifty Years., Gerald F. KreycheDe Paul UniversityMan's Search for Meaning is the story of a man who became a number who became a person. Today Frankl is one of the most famous and gifted of all psychiatrists. Frankl developed his ideas now generally known as the Third School of Viennese Psychiatry -- the school of logotherapy. The incredible attempts to dehumanize man at the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Dachau led Frankl to commence the humanization of psychiatry through logotherapy. Frankl is a professional who possesses the rare ability to write in a layman's language., Gordon W. • 1 of the Inspiring and thoughtful books ever written

We all search for meaning in our lives, it's a built in human feeling that we all have no matter our background, religion or social status. Unfortunately in our modern world, because of its fast pace and stress on "making it" we tend to forget or are just "too busy" to think what really counts in our lives. The author, a Psychiatrist (and at first a colleague of Freud) and a Shoa survivor was able during his time in a concentration camp able to observe how people reacted in a most deprived physical surrounding. WHo were the people most likely to survive, and who died with meaning. He found out the answer and this book was a result of his discovery. It's not easy reading, you have to really THINK when you read this book. It may change your life and ...

  • Annual Required Reading

Vktor Frankl is a gifted writer who shares a unique perspective of the Holacust. His professional training as a therapist and pscychatrist makes his observations on life as a survior extremely compelling and deeply impactful. For a number of years I have read this short but powerful book and its set of insights on the human condition and our own power to ultimately control our own perspective on exisitistence each New Years Day. I am always centered and left with a overwhelming sense of our extensive freedom to define who we are and how we relate to our own lifes under any set of circumstances. I regularly try to procure the volume to give to people whom I care about. I also pass it on to people who beleive they have lost all that is important to them, and are greatly troubled by the ...

  • This book changed my life, and now I want to know HOW.

I read this about 35 years ago and it had a profound impact. A psychologist I was seeing recommended it. Now I find myself wondering how, because I have little memory of the text. Was it the book itself? Or did I take the ball and run with it somehow, because I haven't stopped thinking about the concept since. Yeah, somehow the meaning we can find in our own existence IS all we've got! So I'm reading it again, I can't wait!
