The 1938-D Jefferson Nickel is considered a semi-key date because of its low mintage. Nonetheless, high grade examples bound, and even Gem examples are plentiful. Superb (MS67) examples are scarce, but over 200 of them have been certified by PCGS. This is one of the few dates in the pre-1965 era where MS68 examples exist.
First year in the Jefferson Nickel series, Denver Mint. Excellent investment in the higher grades: MS67, MS67 5FS, or better. Typically a strong strike in the higher grades with stunning detail. A gorgeous example to start the series off. A key date in the series and highly sought after in the higher grades.
Beautiful coin. Looks better than the picture. It has great luster.
