I had high expectations before purchasing this pair of headphones. Those expectations were blown away very quickly when paired with my Fiio X3 that has an inbuilt amp. The sound is classic Grado, with the high quality handcrafted mahogany cups delivering what you'd expect The overall soundstage is broad, vocals are clear, bass tight, mids warm and highs smooth. There are more detailed reviews on places such as head fi. In short, I will say that these headphones match what those reviews say about them to a tee.

Great Headphones, but don't expect much technicalitys, like a well resolved soundstage, good immaging and a great instruments separation. But you can expect lots of fun listening to jazz or old school rock'n roll. Besides the great style embedded in those headphones.

This is a reference class headphone from Grado. I would definitely recommend anyone who does not worry about spending extra little cash. It will bring fantastic experience especially for picky listeners.

Sound is good but ear cushions hurt my ears after a couple of hours of listening. I knew this might be a problem but I love the Grado sound so much I.thought I would still give it a try. I might try the L cushions while I’ve read make it easier to listen for long periods of time however they will change the sound over all.

Listened to all the major brands and models and planar up $3k including top Grado models. These have the most balanced and accurate sound and the best bass. Shure 1840 came the closest at 3x the price.
