Test Drive Unlimited (TDU) has many great features you wouldn't expect to find on a portable but with them come some flaws. First off, there is plenty to do in this game to keep you amused for hours on end. There are over 100 different races ranging from Club Races to Time Trials as well as Speed Trials (races requiring you to meet a certian speed limit). Also more than 70 different cars to choose from with the ability to be upgraded with performance parts and wheels. The Island itself is alive with traffic as well as cops patrolling the area to make sure laws are being obeyed. Add in the online play which is actually very good with virtually no lag considering the amount of people that are online. With all these features available you have to expect some flaws with TDU though. Even though the load times are quick they happen too often throughout the game. I mean coming out of the pause menu requires the game to stop and load for a bit, it's ridiculous. The graphics are subpar at best and the sound can get a bit annoying after a while. All in all, the game is great with plenty of features for you to enjoy. Even though TDU has some minor flaws the gameplay itself is really enjoyable and that is what matters in the end.Read full review
This is an excellent port of the ps2 version of this game. It's got great graphics and great sound. There's tons of races and challenges. This version is almost like the ps2 version except for a few minor things like no car dashboard view. But the island of Oahu is the same size of the ps2 version, maybe a bit smaller than the 360 version but still big in itself. I timed the driving from one side of the island to the other and it took about 23 minutes. That is large! The only annoyance in this game is the police come after you for every minor scrap with a civilian vehicle or for speeding. But that's what would happen in real life so I guess I shouldn't complain. But overall this is a great game and if you own a psp than buy this game for it now! You won't want to miss having it in your collection.Read full review
Didnt like the game very much. I can only drive the car in psp using analog stick. D buttons cannot be used. i cannot drive a car with steering stick. also cops were too much. they wont let u get out. but he game had cool features like buyin a house and drive around hawai. nice dealerships and stuff like that. anyway i couldnt drive that car. once u hit a tree or something like that, it is hard to take a reverse. i hated the fact that races where navigated by GPS. it made it really hard. u r not really sure where to turn and wen to slow down..too much. so i hated it
This is a great game. No pressure, no worries! You can spend the whole gaming just driving around Oahu OR race till you drop; you choose. The ability to "rent" cars is a great idea for those who just like a taste. The racing is not hard at all, but will give a challenge to those that want it. Graphics and draw distance are GREAT and unheard of for a PSP game.
I guess game publishers feel that including a bunch of useless cr*p in a driving game would somehow improve it. This game is a prime example: they included some kind of a silly storyline about the driver flying to Hawaii, buying houses, renting cars, avoiding police, etc. When it comes to driving dynamics though, the cars handle horribly and are pretty much like each other in the corners. So, the driving dynamics suck but of course getting the house buying experience just right was essential. Not recommended.
