Very well written Full of history

A MUST HAVE for any seamstress . Whether you quilt or just make small projects this is a must have in any one's sewing room. Very well written and beautifully illustrated. Full of stories and even an apron pattern is included. So easy to follow that even a novice can be happy with the results. Make a table runner or a purse using the template pattern. Read about the history of those that came before us. A feel good book even if you don't sew but can appreciate the beautiful art of quilting and sewing.

Not suited for beginners! Complicated and fussy instructions.

Fussy and complicated instructions make this book a poor choice for a beginner. I've been making quilts for many years and was hoping to pick up a few tips for authentic 1930's quilts. No such luck. I used to watch Eleanor Burn's public tv show and had high hopes for a great book.
