Easy setup but missing knots as a unit for wind

Unit is easy to read and easy to setup. Gives internal and external temps in F or C Provides internal and external humidity Wind speeds in MPH or KPH, would like to see knots as an option. Wind direction in degrees or letters e.g. 90 or E along with top speed Temp and wind histories available. Although not designed for my use, I bought this to try as a tool while doing Sailboat Race Committee as a quick reference for wind speed and direction (explains the desire for knots) and I have the unit mounted on the center console of my boat. While I'm not using a lot of it's features I am happy with the accuracy of the wind and temp readings.

You will get what you pay for

Pros: -12 hour forecast has been surprisingly accurate, even right out of the box. -Wind speed measurements work great. -Top wind speed records for the past hour, day, week, month and year are kept which is a useful feature for weather spotters like myself. -Though I have no way to check the accuracy of the barometric pressure measurements, it seems to work. Cons: -Breeze Pro unit gave me completely inaccurate outdoor temperature readings for a few days, then stopped giving me outdoor temperature readings entirely. Even a full factory reset did not fix the problem so my guess is the unit is defective. On the bright side, it is possible to add a standalone temperature and humidity sensor to the display. -Indoor temperature readings seem to be off by about 2-3 degrees. -The mounting screws the station comes with are utter crap and easily stripped. I ended up using my own set of screws and washers to secure the outdoor sensor. This station has no WiFi capability, though as that was advertised in the listing, it's not a big deal and I don't need the WiFi connectivity anyway. Overall, the lack of outdoor temperature and humidity readings is a letdown, but otherwise I am happy with it. It's definitely not the best weather station ever, though for the $50 price it's unbeatable. I'm not sure if the problem with the temperature readings is just my unit, but if you do have to end up buying extra sensors then expect that $50 price tag to go up...

  • Simple? setup.

The item arrived on time and the packaging was sufficient to provide protection for it. The installation was easy enough and all mounting hardware was provided. The data display is clear and easy to understand. The only issues I experienced, or are continuing to experience was the rechargeable battery in the outside unit was discharged, which wouldn't allow the transmitter to send the information to the base and I still have not gotten the rain gauge to seemingly connect to the indoor unit as it is still only showing barometric pressure. I purchased two of these units and one seems to be working perfectly, while the other is not....might be user malfunction and not the device.

  • It’s just ok

I wanted something which would tell me the wind speed and direction. It does work great for that. However, it’s the “battery back-up” that I have issues with. If the power goes out, so does the display. I expected for the backlight to go out, but the info would still be displayed. Instead, the whole thing is just blank until the power comes back on. I guess that’s because this was originally supposed to be connected to a smart phone app also. At least if it was connected to an app, maybe you could look at real-time info. As far as I can tell, the only thing the battery back-up does, is keep the time and date function so that you don’t have to reset it every time the power goes out or someone accidentally unplugs it. I was not home when the power went out, so I don’t know if the wind was blowing at 48 mph when the power went out; or if 48 mph was the highest speed during the previous 24 hours, and the battery back-up logged that info? I also wish that the display included a moon phases function. I do like that this model is compatible with a self-draining rain gauge. I hope to invest in one of those soon. If I had to do it over again, I’d probably go with a different weather station...

  • Incredible Price for a great unit!

Fantastic but, make sure you know that you are getting the equivalent of a factory second. These are at an incredible price because of a failure in their chip manufacture. That sounds bad, but it isn't. This works just like the best weather stations would have only a few years back for a quarter of the price. It just does not connect to a smart phone app. Soooo. if you can stand to just look at your weather console for the information, you will be more than happy.

  • Will not work 24 hours

The outside sensor will not operate a full 24 hours, even after a summer sunny day in Texas. Either the rechargeable battery used in the product and or the solar panel do not have the capacity to do the job. And you can forget using it on cloudy days. I replaced the rechargeable battery with a quality one, same result. Don't waste your money!

  • Tons of retrievable info

I love this thing! Besides giving all pertinent information, you can go back 1 year (by the day, month or year) and find the high and low temps, as well as top wind speeds. The unit and transmitter are made of plastic, and while that was not a concern with the display, I was concerned with the transmitter and especially the wind cups. I have not had any problems with any of this yet, but was very careful during installation up on my roof about laying it down as I was working. The wind cups unavoidably rest on the ground while you are preparing installation and seem very vulnerable to breakage during this time period. But now that it is installed I don't see any future problem with it. I also love the graphics being bright, but it includes a dimmer for night time (it can really light up the room at night). Also the colors are vibrant and beautiful and show different functions in different colors. The setting and info recall buttons are on the top but in the back and out of sight. I have a slight problem in that when I want to recall information, I have to pick it up, turn it around, and get a flashlight to read which button I am going to push (there are 9 of them). If it is located in a well lit room, this is not as much a problem as they are clearly labeled in white lettering, but again with out light it is difficult. The transmitter is equipped with a solar panel which recharges the small battery inside. It is supposed to last years so frequent battery replacement is not an issue. Time will tell if it survives without issue, but if so I am thrilled with my purchase.

  • Precise weather info, but must use ML battery for solar cell recharging.

Connected with ease. has all the features needed, but the problem with the station is it requires a ML2032 rechargeable battery instead of the CR2032 which they state, can damage the unit. They seem to be hard to come by if need to replace. For function I give it high marks, but yet to be determined the cycle life of the battery that may become obsolete. The CR2032 , which is common, has the same voltage, but it's chemical composition is not compatible with its solar cells ability to recharge. therefore, damaging the system. Does not come with U clamps to mount to a pole.

  • Too many issues with system

I have owned the less expensive La Crosse weather stations for a number of years and they have worked very well. After moving to a new location that is totally off the grid with only solar and wind power we decided to upgrade to a more sophisticated accurate weather station that displays wind speed. The La Crosse 79400 Wind + Weather station came up as a heavily discounted product from La Crosse due to a fault in the chip that defeated the Wi-Fi capabilities. Retail price $165, sale price $50. Great price if you don’t care about Wi-Fi. It was delivered and we set it up the next day. The problems began almost immediately. The display sent by the transmitter would disappear and we would have to reset the system. Trying to contact the service/tech department was a nightmare. They gave a long list of reasons why this might happen. We were told that the transmitter was to far away from the receiver/display and to move it closer or about 50 feet max. Did that and nothing changed. The purpose for buying the weather station was to monitor the wind at the turbine. I was sent a new receiver/display and a new transmitter. Still nothing changed. No further help from La Crosse just a refund. What we discovered was that the so called solar charger was not charging the rechargeable battery and as it was weak when shipped and never charged which caused the failures. I now go up to the wind turbine, which is 150 feet away, and replace the battery every three months. Other problems which now have become laughable almost every time we look at the weather station is the “feels like” temperature outside. The actual temp might be 53 but the feels like temp shows anywhere from 13 to 199. It’s funny when the temp is 32 and it shows 173 as the feels like temp. Another display that is wacky are the clouds showing that it is raining, yet there isn’t a cloud in the sky and it is bright and sunny. Now we know why La Crosse is dumping these units at such a low price. If you need a laugh and some exercise, buy one. Otherwise look for a different unit or manufacturer.

  • A value priced Weather station with expandability

For the price it's hard to beat and that's it's biggest selling point. Only time will tell on how well the out door unit will survive the outdoor environment in terms of UV degradation and Ice formation in the winter. The indoor unit offers all the information that you need and is easy to set up. A nice bonus is an optional rain gauge can be purchased that connects wirelessly to the unit. all in all it was a good deal
