Direct fit tuneup kit for Tecumseh H35
Everything (Spark-plug, points & condensor) fit and worked fine on my Tecumseh H35. It was lightly different than original in that the original condensor was wired together with coil using a common terminal lug whereas the condensor in this kit comes separately - not a problem, just different. The reason I gave a 4-star rather than a 5-star is the package was previously opened and the points had a dull looking spot in the middle like they were either used or the metal plating was inferior - I'm thinking it may have been a returned package because previous buyer was not happy with the contact surface of the points. They worked fine however and engine started right up once I got everything else set up right. To set timing on the old Tecumseh H35 with points requires some major fiddling. ... They worked fine however and engine started right up once I got everything else set up right. To set timing on the old Tecumseh H35 with points requires some major fiddling. The point gap MUST be 0.020" with points on max opening of cam. Then the piston must be exactly 0.065" before top-dead-center when points just start to open. If you do not have the special tool for measuring to top of piston through the spark-plug hole then you must remove head (and gas tank,starter cover & flywheel) to use a depth gauge to set piston at proper height (check Tecumseh manuals for exact measurement - it varies with engine type/size). While checking / holding piston at correct height you rotate coil armature / point housing assembly around crankshaft until points just open (as measured with a test light or ohmmeter). It's a pain in the rear, but when you are done there is no guessing or setting timing "by ear", it is EXACTLY were Tecumseh wanted it. The price was good so I would buy it again.
