A good alternative sound card
After my laptop sound card stopped working I needed an alternative to listen to audio on my laptop. My main alternative sound card for music production became the Behringer UCA222, which is an awesome alternative but not very portable. So i tried another brand of compact plug and play type sound card but within about a week it broke. Expect connector failures.
This works well, I have 3 of them. However there is a mechanical problem with the connector jacks. After plugging headphones in several times the springing if the metal in the jacks fails and it will lose the connection. Hence they do not last very long. The cure is to crack open the plastic housing (a little difficult to split open) and then using a pin push the crimp springing metal of the module' connector back in so that it will lock down onto the connector as it should. That fixes it. I typically do not bother to replace the plastic housing should I need to have to do that again. What is interesting is that without the housing reveals a green led that will flicker as sound is transferred through it. Odd that it is only visible without the housing. Surprisingly the actual fidelity of the output is very good. I would not recommend this to someone not handy enough to perform the fix I have outlined.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The SYBA USB sound card is a great item to have. If you have a bad 3.5 audio input output on your computer or laptop , this item does the trick. Install is easy since its plug and play. Also if you want to hookup a microphone it has input on the sound card as well. A very easy and simple item to replace using your input on your computer if you don't want to spend upwards of $100 to a computer repair shop. Sound quality with this card is excellent . It actually in my case sounds better with audio than it did with laptop's orig. 3.5 input Really very inexpensive way to resolve what could be a real issue. It works great! One caution: start with volume at it's lowest setting and gradually step the volume up to your comfort level. Buy Name brand!
When it comes to these kinds of small electronic items always buy name brand. I know you can get these from China for as low as $1.25 shipped but remember the old saying "you get what you pay for". I went through and wasted time and money purchasing cheap china items that gave me nothing but ground hums, distortion, popping etc. The SYBA is exactly the opposite, clean digital sound with not hum or static. Priced under $10 will worth it! Great, but you need a splitter.
