Bigsby with Vibramate
I put this on my 335. It’s my first bigsby so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The Vibramate bolted on perfectly, I was impressed how precise it was and how nicely the Bigsby bolted up to it. I have no issues with the fit and finish of these two products but there are a few things I didn’t like after it all was bolted in my beloved 335. First the Vibramate sticks out so much, it’s polished aluminum and to cover it up they give you a plastic black cover that says *Custom Made* on it. First thing, I don’t want to add a cheesy plastic cover to my guitar, second thing, the aluminum stood out so much from my black guitar and it looked hideous. The price you pay for not drilling into the guitar. There is no way around what Vibramate did, and they did a great job with this product don’t ... I put this on my 335. I decided to paint the Vibramate black so it blends into the guitar a bit more and as soon as I mounted it, you can tell right away that paint helped it blend in better. So now the Bigsby is mounted I’m having a major problem with Wolf Tones and I really don’t want to put ugly mufflers between the stings at the tail piece and I’m also finding it strange tuning my guitar. It will need a new set up but I’ve been spoiled over the years playing those boring stop tail pieces, they are so exact and dependable. At least now if I need to track some Bigsby I have the option to just bolt it on, I’m staying with the stop tail piece though.

B7 and V7 Vibramate
I have used Bigsbys for years and they are awesome. This is the first time I have used a Vibramate and I would never use a V7 again, at least on a Les Paul. The Les Paul has a curved top. The Vibramate does not sit flat on a Les Paul and the Bigsby is at the mercy of the floating Vibramate. The guitar will not stay in tune no matter what you do......locking tuners, graphtech nut , and rolling bridge will solve this problem. But the problem is not with the guitar, it's with the Vibramate. Look if you have a flat top guitar like an SG or Tele, I would see no issue with a Vibramate......but not on a curve top guitar like a Les Paul.I have used Bigsbys for years and they are awesome. This is the first time I have used a Vibramate and I would never use a V7 again, at least on a Les Paul. The Les Paul has a curved top. I've installed and removed several of these now. They really do not damage the guitar in any way. Using common sense while installing, you will have no problems. In my opinion, you will need a new longer modified strap screw, which is not provided. By modified, I mean get a long screw with the same threads as the original, and belt sand or file the head so it will seat into the strap button just like the original screw. You don't have tighten the stud screws overly tight, work it all in easy and you'll see. Also, go easy when screwing the smaller screws to the Vibramate. They don't line up perfect or seat perfect, but they do line up, thread ok, and seat well enough to look good. Just leave one loose when you start the other. Like I said, common sense. Don't forget to measure your guitar!
Oops! I DIDN't measure my guitar, and I got the wrong one. The B7 was too short for my Gibson ES-333, but NO PROBLEM. I pulled the socket keeping the tail-end of the Bigsby out, and turned it around. Perfect fit! Excellent product! It is so good, that I'm going to buy another one for my Les Paul!
