    Easy way to get your data off of your legacy hard drives

    OK, technically they are called "fixed disks". I have a small army of older parallel ATA or EIDE drives with data that I want to recover, and since new motherboards only come with SATA ports, this adapter fit the bill perfectly. It's best to plug it into one of your "resident" USB ports on your motherboard-sometimes the front panel ports don't have enough current. I like the fact that this comes with its own power supply.

    Excellent product

    I had one of these and I bought a second. I had 2 external hard drives ( pata ) and I wanted to clone one to the other. I used a free software called EASEUS TODO. Both vantecs and the software worked perfectly.

    Works Great

    I tested it with IDE 2.5 and IDE 3.5 disks and it worked great at USB 3.0 speeds (or better at the maximum speed my disks could handle). S.M.A.R.T. values are also transmitted. I did not test it with SATA disks.
