The Sony SEL85F18 lens is an 85mm mid-range telephoto prime lens designed to enhance sharpness and bokeh when shooting portraits. Developed as an accessory to E-mount mirrorless cameras, this lens has a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture with auto-adjust capability. It also features a focus hold button and wide focus ring that are dust and moisture resistant. The ED glass and nine-blade circular aperture provide additional sharpness and allow for customized focus effects. These features also assist with chromatic aberration compensation.

    Great Portrait Lens

    I consider photography as a hobby and do not do it professionally. I purchased this lens because it is a Native lens to the Sony System and learned it was good for portraits. Although this is a Full Frame camera lens, I use it on my Sony A6100 APS-C camera. I have achieved great portraits and wonderful bokeh. I'm still experimenting with portraiture picture taking but I can say I am really happy with the results so far.

    Small lightweight "ok" lens

    It's a small and lightweight lens for 85mm f1.8. The copy I got however had a lot of chromatic aberrations (magenta tint) around all edges, from corner to corner and was relatively soft in the corners. It's not a "bad" lens, but even stopped down at f4, those issues persist. For some shooters, I am sure they won't see a difference, but for my applications, it was just not practical.

    light and works well -I was happy to buy it used

    - it makes it a much better value .. however, im still not used to the way the focusing works on this - it is tuned to autofocus in a jiffy - the manual focus seems to jump into place .. i havnt got the hang of it yet ... the OLED display is nice - though i havent had a chance to make use of it shooting any video yet ..
