Plating peeling off threads
I have 2 other sets on other guitars but, this is the first gold color plating. I bought to use on Ibanez hollow body. The container had been opened before and plating was peeling off the threaded areas on both. I didn't want to hassle with returning this item so hopefully exposed areas will not peel, (threads). I have knowledge of plating from my career in aircraft industry.

Good locks, work great
These strap locks work best for me. I have tried others. I play an old, 1990 (heavy), Warwick Streamer bass. These locks (made in Germany), seem to work better than the ones from the U.S. I really want to make sure my old work horse doesn't hit the ground.

Peace of mind
I have three sets of Schaller strap locks. No more dropped or near dropped guitars due to straps popping of the pegs. Really secure. Had to add a adapter for my Taylor 614 but they work as advertised. Once you loose a strap end and damage an instrument you'd wish you had these long ago.

I'm a big fan of the original Schaller strap locks. The new version is perhaps a bit better with the locking nut. I'd prefer, however, if the release button did not stick out so far from the guitar.

Elegant looking and Schaller strength.
Beautiful and Schaller strong. Super easy to install as long as you have a "greeny" small flat blade to unlock the knurled set screw that locks the threaded disk after tightening onto the strap. They seem to be as strong as the "regular" Schaller locks. It would be nice if Schaller included the correct screw driver for a few extra bucks as jeweler size screw drivers are likely too small and anything but a greeny is likely too big.

Beware cheap Chinese imitations
I tried the cheap Chinese imitations, and they're a waste of money. The retaining nut is plastic, and won't hold. These are honest metal, and if your guitar comes loose, it's your fault. The most secure strap locks made. They're heavy, but it's worth the weight.
