Bully has always been a favorite of mine. Only real issue with the game i can think of is the amout of load time and the time it self that it takes to laod. But as technology grows and gets faster, we sometimes forget how long we use to have to wait for load times.

Pros: It's fun. There is nothing like stuffing someone in a garbage can or a locker, nailing a bully with a sling shot, making out with girls from different social groups, playing dodge ball, or tripping a jock with marbles. It keeps your interest as well, and it gives you a sense of time progression (from a Halloween Party to a Christmas party, and on to the next season). You are also free to explore and do other missions like the Grand Theft Auto series. Finally, the stereotypes are utterly hilarious--- from of the wall gameplay nerd quotes of "learning to speak Elf" or a mindless bully going around yelling "DESTROY, DESTROY!!!" Cons: It is just too easy. Most missions I beat on the first try. Even the bike racing you would expect some difficult but really there is none. You pretty much go from mission to mission with no real effort, unlike Grand Theft Auto where sometimes missions took dozens or more times to complete. Even the last mission was easy, and i was not ready for it to be over. Overall: 4/5. Good game and it is VERY fun! I would consider renting it or buying it used rather than new due to it's ease of completion. It takes about one to two weeks to complete unless you want to get 100 percent completion, which consists of walking around collecting rubber bands and cards.Read full review
This game will grow on you and gets better and better the more you play it! It isn't your regular mindless game; if you aren't mentally sharp, you won't be able to pass it! Rockstar has taken a great concept and made an excellent game. You are a short tough guy that spends his time between going to class, dodging bullies, and hitting on girls. The REAL game happens when you get off campus. It is a whole new world that opens up and it really gets to be a ton of fun. The part that I really respect about this game is that it really challenges your mind in a way that I have not expected from Rockstar. For example, when you go to English class, you they will give you 6 letters that are scrambled, and in 3 minutes you have to think of as many words as possible out of those letters! Some of them can have as many as 40 or 50 potential words and you have to at least be able to come up with 50%! And it's not like a typical game where you can just come right back and try it, you won't be able to try it again for a few real life hours! Another challenge is to push the exact button on the control pad at the exact second. They have taken it a step further because they have full animation playing in the background so distract you, with your teacher talking to you and trying to throw you off. Each time it uses more and more buttons in a totally random fashion. The story line is also fun with so many mini quests it will keep you playing and entertained for hours. The one reason that it is not a 5 in my book is the load time. It seems to take forever to load up the game initially, and then every time he goes to a new scene, it takes forever to load. The graphics are good, but not for the level of load time. It loses a bit of the momentum every time. Beyond that, once you get the hang of the controls and then get off the campus, be ready to become further addicted! In regards to the violence for kids, the only good thing is that no one ever actually dies, and there isn't any blood. Just kids laying on the ground like they were kicked in the stomach. If you learned something new here, take a second to review it. Thanks and have fun!Read full review
My 16 year old son asked for this game, Bully. I did a little research and liked what I found. This game puts you (as character Jimmy, 15 yr old new kid in town) in situations with various boarding school bullies and gives you the tools to stand up to those bullies. Bullworth Academy is run by a clueless administration and different social cliques that are always fighting. You figure out how to fend for yourself while attending classes, avoiding authority figures, and occasionally kissing girls. The interesting story and unique setting are what I like about Bully. Bully is school, and you are to attend two classes each day with curfew at 11 pm. Going to class is beneficial, as there are tasks to complete in class that give you bonuses. For example, doing well in gym teaches you new fighting moves and passing English (one game is a word scramble) gives you increased verbal abilities to apologize to authority figures to avoid getting busted. There is no time limit for missions or classes. Plus, as long as you dodge the prefects on campus or the police in the nearby town, you can stay out until 2 am, at which point you pass out and wake up at 8 am the next morning. After watching the violence of other teen games, I liked that the weapons in this game are adolescent ones, such as a slingshot or itching powder. No one dies. Also, this is not one of those games that are impossible to win. No task is terribly hard and there are hidden objects and other things to keep your interest in playing again, once you do "win."Read full review
The first time I played this game I was addicted. I had to get if for myself. I am not one of the best video game players, and watching my brother play any of the GTAs made me want to play them, but when I would play it would be as much fun, just because I wasn't as good as my brother. I describe Bully to people as my version of GTA. It's at my playing level, but it is still really fun. It might be too easy for some of the really good video game players, but for me it was a nice welcome to having to play really simple games(b/c i'm not amazing). Basically, Bully is fun and there are so many missions and side quests that you won't get bored.

What can I say, I really enjoy this game. It is funny, irreverent, crude, and a challenge at times. The game play has scripted portions where certain "missions" must be completed in order to unlock new skills; and the game also has an explorer quality to it, where you can violate the time-line or schedule of events and go do.... whatever. The mini-games within the Bully world are simple and challenging - word scrambles, target practice, hand-eye coordination, etc. The fun comes in when you take your character off-topic and do what you want - which normally means vandalizing property or starting fights. Fans of other Rockstar games will get the humor right away. Good for players looking for something a little different - a nice break from the routine of the 1st person shooter, or other RPG-type games. Brings back fond memories of being a outcast in school.Read full review
First of all, I love this game, I love Rockstar, and I love open world games. However, I do not think it is appropriate for children, or even teens that act out. The game lets you assume the life of Jimmy Hopkins, a kid who has had some tough knocks in life, and now is getting dropped of at a boarding school so his mom can run around with Jimmy's new step-dad. You begin the game at the gates of Bullworth Academy, and the game just says go to the principals office. From this moment out you create the game. If you so choose, you can just hang out in the quad for awhile and talk to people, or hit them, or jump in fountains, or eat apples off of the ground, the choice is yours. Of course, if you skip class, or pick on girls, or hit boys the prefects will be after you, and as the game progresses the cops might be called in as well. I was shocked the first time I bumped into a lady in the Vale and the cops grabbed me, this game is serious about crime and punishment. Which is a good thing in my opinion. The missions are a blast, the cut scenes laugh out loud funny, and the voice acting well above par. As Jimmy you will have to do everything from bike races, to beat downs, panty raids to fetching lipstick for Cook, and of course, lots and lots of taking down the kid powers that be. Most of the game revolves around Jimmy taking on the cliques at the school and becoming their boss. Nerds become your first loyal friends, followed by bullies and preps, greasers, and jocks. Of course Jimmy is still expected to go to school while trying to become king of the heap at Bullworth. Classes are fun mini games, from pushing buttons as called for, or word scrambles or even a game of dodgeball. Each class you pass gives you a benefit, english improves taunting, while chemistry grants you more weapons to make, etc. Once Jimmy passes all five levels of a class he is no longer required to attend. Of course Jimmy can try to skip class, but if a prefect catches him he is sent right to school. To wrap up, this game is great. I could not be happier with it, and I am usually pretty hard on games. This game gets my 5/5 seal. 5/5 + Open world gameplay + High replay value + Great side quests and mini games + Just plain fun to play + Laugh out loud funny - No skate board tricks - Lock on system sometimes off the shmoopie's tip: To run press and hold x, of course you tire out and need to walk after a while, to avoid this tap x repeatedly, and you will sprint and never tire. This also works on bikes and skate boards.Read full review
Very good game, even for a slightly out-dated PS2 game. I enjoyed the story lines and the open style of play. Like another reviewer said it is similar to GTA but very toned down. The combat controls are simple but still allow for effective and entertaining variety. The classroom puzzles were fun.I consider myself a more mature player (30yo with 2 kids) so the only consideration I should note is that the language in the game forced me to play when my 3 year old was not around or asleep, but it is well worth the minor accomidation for me.
