Sony has always made good products, as in the past 30 years I had owner two color TV sets from them. This video camera is very lightweight and after a good reading of the instructions was able to put it to use within 2 days of my spare time. Camera came with a lot of accessories, like an extra battery, a 32GB memory card, plus a tripod, etc. Yet, the camera instructions call for and videos to be quickly downloaded via a USB port. Try as I may, my Windows 10 64 bit software would not recognize the Handycam HCR-CX405 at all. Multiple Google searches plus updating my drivers with my Driver Support service produced nothing. Thankfully, my laptop has a card slot to accept the injesting of the video data. It just requires taking out the mini memory chip, inserting it into the regular size chip, then uploading it to my computer that way. It is a work around, but thankfully my HP Laptop was able to handle it. Read full review

This camcorder may be small in size - think 12 ounce soda can - but lighter, only half the soda in it. By holding the unit in one's right hand between your thumb and fingers you can easily slide your four digits under the adjustable carrying/charging strap. The buttons are all self-evident and manual so you push a lever to open the lens cover, easily completed with your pinkie! On top of the unit moved by your index finger is a toggle switch to use the wide-width or telescoping lens and behind that button is another for simply taking pictures. The video stop/start button is easily reachable with your thumb. There is an adjustable screen to pop out and watch what is being "filmed". It didn't take long for me to figure this unit out and I've already been riding around the state with hubby on our trike taking some awesome videos of our adventures. Easy to hold and maneuver at 40mph, the only downfall is the microphone picks up a lot of wind noise (and there's no external mic option). But downloading videos is just so easy with one quick attachment and recharging easier still. As this is my first attempt with a camcorder I have to say I'm happy with my choice and would recommend it to any first-timer.Read full review

Like almost all products if this type, the instructions are not complete enough for an easy training and orientation process, so I am giving it four stars. But, so far, I can tell it will meet my needs eventually. I am psychotherapist and plan on using it during couples therapy as a feedback/training device.

This is a great little handi-cam I got for my wife. Small enough for her to drop in her purse and it is very simple to use. It's a back to the basics video cam that is not burdened with tons of settings she would never use AND you can't beat the price. Ready to use in an instant without having to punch in a bunch of settings. Set it on auto and you will never miss a shot - this is perfect for the amateur home movie enthusiast not the pro-videographer but it's a good starting point. Thanks for this one Sony.
