It will do...
I bought this with the idea that I could fry things without oil, and not have to oven bake fries or broil chicken in the oven to have the crispiness that I crave. I especially wanted it for bone-in meats so I knew that I would need the additional rack/accessory in order to take full advantage of its cooking capacity, also.
Having said that, this XXL is in fact, XXL. If you desire something small and compact, this is not it. I knew that when I ordered it, but as aforementioned, I opted for cooking capacity over it being compact. It will take some adjustment to recipes-temperatures and cooking times, in order to cater to your specific tastes; and the timer cannot be manually wound down if your food is done before it stops. However, that isn't a problem for me-I just unplug it and the timer continues to wind down on its own while unplugged. Easy-peasy!
I performed a taste test when we initially used it-peach habanero wings in it and broiled in the oven. Both were prepared without any coating/breading, and they took about the same amount of time to be prepared. So time wasn't saved. As far as the crunchiness was concerned, there wasn't much of a noteable difference. The difference came with the inside. The air-fried wings were a bit more moist. They weren't mind-blowing, but they were more moist.
I attempted breading chicken thighs, and this experience made me opt out of the breaded option. My entire kitchen/dining/breakfast nook were filled with a light/white smoke that required the exhaust fan, open patio doors, fan, and air filter to clear. Then, the chicken came out okay, but not impressive enough to have the smoky experience every time I do it.
The Phillips airfryer app, for additional recipes, doesn't have this model listed as an option so that proved useless.
I think it will prove how useful it is as time goes on, but for now; it will do...
