As to my experience, the directions are still safe to use in canning, and this little jewel has instructions and recipes that you will not find in any other canning guide. I was particularly looking for the Cantaloupe Preserves and Hot Tamales, but there are many, many other recipes for all kinds of goodies. The ultimate convenience food. Yes, canning can be a lot of work, but when you're finished, you're FINISHED! No paying the bill to keep things frozen, no freezer-burn, no thawing, and no worries if the power goes out for days! Jars and rings can be used over and over again, you only need new lids. I'd used one for many years, but loaned it out and it got lost. Now I have several. This is the best, easy to read and follow, and well illustrated.
