Gamera the brave (2006) was the 4th and at present last Gamera film of the millennium series as it has become known. Unlike the previous Gamera trilogy, Gamera the Brave is a stand alone film that reinvents the legend that is Gamera but never states if it is set in the same universe as the previous 3 films. This film is a far more family orientated affair than the previous trilogy with greater importance being placed on the relationships between a small boy and the Baby Gamera he finds. The relationship and bond between Gamera and children and that of Father and son. In all it is a good strong heartfelt story. The villainous monster of the film Zedus is menacing and the effects are great if not as good as the previous trilogy. Gamera himself has been completely redesigned and is presented in a more family orientated image. If the film has it's flaws they are few in my books for the market it was aming at. A bit more Monster action would always have been nice and restoring Gameras proper roar a must for fans of the series. Sadly I have yet to find a dubbed version of the movie. At present it is only available with English Subtitles and not readily available in the west. It can be obtained easily through sites like eBay though. Recommended for all fans of giant monsters. I also urge anyone to check out the previous trilogy of films as they are amongst the best Kaiju films ever made.Read full review

Great movie.....not your ordinary Gamera movie but it is good entertaining and fun to watch with the family. Even though Gamera is a smaller version it's you grow into him.

This is a good film on Gamera, has some great Kaiju action moments, and the special affects look really good compared to some other giant monster movies. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes Gamera, or Kaiju films in general. Add this to your collection before this is really hard to find, I wanted the Blu Ray version but couldn't get my hands on it, maybe someday it will get back in print again.
