Bring your vintage computer back to life!
I use these CF to IDE adapters mainly to add new life to vintage computer systems. Paired with an XTIDE controller, such as the Monotech or Lo-Tech models, a vintage computer can use a CF card as a hard drive. This adapter fits perfectly into any 3.5" drive bay or 5.25" drive bay with a 3.5" to 5.25" drive bay adapter. A 4 pin Molex power to 4 pin Berg power adapter is included. The kit also includes a bracket to mount the CF card adapter into a card slot if preferred. If your XTIDE controller supplies power over the 40pin PATA (IDE) cable then the use of the Molex to Berg power adapter will not be needed. I installed a Tex-Elec Lo-Tech XTIDE controller and one of these card adapters into my Tandy 1000HX without the need to run a power cable to the adapter since the Lo-Tech supplies power ... I use these CF to IDE adapters mainly to add new life to vintage computer systems. This product, combined with a PATA Compatible CF card, can replace those obsolete Zip drives used in some of the older products and devices, such as older "Porta-Studio" style audio recorders and samplers. I personally have two of these devices and got some new life out of perfectly functioning devices that depended upon obsolete media.
