I have been waiting to buy this set for a long time, because normally it's 3 times the amount! This is the BEST deal I've seen on it! I've only had time to make it through the first disc. So far it's good. My ONLY negatives & the reason I gave 4 stars is it's a little grainy in the outdoor scenes. I also dislike that you have to flip the discs & there's no chapters....so if you stop playing & need to restart you have to manually fast forward which on my DVD player it would only go 999 seconds at a time! Would any of that stop me from recommending or having bought it!? NOPE! AMAZING deal if you're looking for this set without spending an arm & leg. Maybe one day I will splurge for the blu-ray version. I'm sure the crisp updated picture is even more amazing but for now...this set is awesome & gives me my Green Gables fix! Read full review

I love Anne of Green Gables, but the quality of this copy is terrible! It looks like it is a copy of a copy of a copy. It is very pix-elated and blurry. The only thing that I like about it is that it is close-captioned so you can have sub-titles but that is meaningless if you can't see it. The bonus features disc is interesting, but I would not recommend buying this set. The 3 disc set is a MUCH better quality.

I've been in love with the Anne of Green Gables story and films since I was 6 or 7 years old- now 35, my love for either hasn't changed. The price of this set was absolutely wonderful- other sites charge 3x the amount! I had read other reviews complaining of a "fuzzy" picture- ya gotta remember the first two films were made for public access television (for the States as they're Canadian films) and were made in the 80s. The picture quality IS much better than the VHS copies. The ONLY thing I wish any of the sets had are Subtitles! I chose this set release as it was the first set to come out on DVD, and for under $18, why deny it??? The story will forever be a classic- every woman and young woman I know gushes about these films- my younger sister and I have a great bond over them (one of favorite scenes is in the sequel when Anne and Diana get caught up chasing "Dolly")I had purchased separate copies of each film about a year ago to give to my sister for Christmas, she was delighted. They're our go to on any given day- when we need to laugh, be in love, admire the costumes/set design as it's absolutely flawless for the Edwardian time the films are set in(the 3rd is during WWI) I'm not a mother (yet) however I can't wait for the day to share with my own daughter as my parents did with my sister and I. I'm a huge movie buff- honestly my favorites are horror films! However I LOVE every type of film genre and my collection shows it! So happy to finally have found this set for a reasonable price - once they release the other films on Blu-ray, I'll be purchasing that set as well - I can't imagine how the quality will look then! Very pleased- I've had the set for 4 days now and I've drove my fiancé crazy watching them lol. He can handle it, it balances with his Steven Seagull films LOL. I recommend Anne of Green Gables and the sequel(formally Anne of Avonlea) as well as the third film, even though it was made much later in my life, perhaps my teen years. A wonderful collection for people of ANY age 💕 Read full review

Anne of Green Gables is a sweet movie set in the turn of the century. Anne (with an "e") is a fiesty character full of hope and imagination. The book was great and the movie is pretty close to making it come to life. The actors are spot on, the clothing is fantastic and the setting is tranquil. I enjoy this movie very much. It's especially good to watch with young daughters. :o)

I have rented these movies since I was a child and have always LOVED the series. I am glad I have finally purchaced the dvd set for myself! The story is a timeless classic, and of course leaves you wanting more! The first of the trilogy, Anne of Green Gables is by far the best of the trilogy. Followed by Anne of Avonlea, which finally brings closure to Anne and Gilbert... the last of the trilogy was definitely my least favorite. But, the writers are true to Anne Shirley's character and motivations throughout the trilogy. I will not give away direct plot lines and such, but the 5 year engagement that Anne Shirley has in the 3rd movie does not in any way explain the aging that the actress had between filmings! It didn't fool anyone! I would have prefered she had been married for a longer period of time, therefore explaining her age and her obvious maturity. It wouldn't have taken away from the movie in any way. Other than that, the movies are great and I highly recommend them for all ages ranging from youngsters (like I was) 8 years old to that 99 year old looking to cozy up with some hot chocolate and engage in a great story! It will capture your heart!Read full review
