Product Information

Four elemental Crystals, each possessing awesome power, lie scattered throughout the realm. However, men are quick to covet things which offer strength, and easily corrupted by the might which they possess. Seduced by the promised power of the Crystals, the kingdom of Baron begins employing unprovoked force to seize them from peaceful nations. The dark knight Cecil - Lord Captain of Baron's elite force, the Red Wings - is ordered by his king to obtain the Crystals, but soon begins to question the monarch's motives. Stricken with grief at his own actions, yet burdened by his loyalty to his country and his personal sense of honor, Cecil at last decides to turn from the path of darkness and destruction. Enraged, the king accuses him of disloyalty, strips Cecil of his command, and sends him off to slay a mysterious beast that lurks in the nearby Valley of Mist. Cecil embarks on a fateful journey that will bring trials, betrayals, friendship, loss and self-discovery. Can Cecil open his eyes and become the man of honor that he must be? A touched-up classic!

If you weren't fortunate enough to be alive when this game first came out for the Super Nintendo (titled Final Fantasy II), then this version is ideal for new games who like playing their gaming history. FFII was the spark that lit the turn-based RPG rage that took over the SNES, highlighted by it's sequel Final Fantasy III. If you like turn-based RPG gaming, FFII was the catalyst (not including the NES games), and I think you'll enjoy it immensely. Keep in mind that this is a slower-paced game with some decent depth to the story and a bit of character layering. Also keep in mind that older games like this are HARD. They can be challenging (read: near impossible to move forward) if you rush through them. You've got to take your time and level-up. This game is fun and can because ...

  • A Classic Installment of the Series Goes Portable

This may not be the first time a lot of people have played it, and yet for some this may be new to them. After all this is the third time this game has been released. First on the Super NES as Final Fantasy II, then re-released just about as is with minimal change on PSone as FF Chronicles together with Chrono Trigger. This is the third release and comes on Game Boy Advance by itself, but with various enhances with graphics, sound, story line, gameplay, and a very highly expanded plot and several bonus features this time around that will add to the entertainment value of this game and replay. In addition, the difficulty level seems to have been toned down somewhat, at least from the Playstation version, which will be a welcome adjustment for those that may have found this game somewhat ...

  • Great Game for past and present gamers of the FF series

The story behind the original Final Fantasy II game for the Super Nintendo is back on the Game Boy Advance. Cecil, the dark knight, is sent to steal the crystal of water from the Mysidians under the orders of King Baron. After plundering the crystal and taking the lives of a couple mages, Cecil has second thoughts of what took place. When he returns to Baron, he questions the King as to why he had to do what he did. Feeling Cecil is becoming treasonous, King Baron strips Cecil of his command as leader of the Red Wings and sends him off to the village Mist with a mysterious Bomb bracelet along with his long time friend Kain, who came to his defense. Heading off to Mist and beyond brings to light what has happened to Baron and what must be done to fight back the powerful kingdom that ...

  • Beyond awesome.

I'd received this game through a trade with someone, and little did I know what I was in for. I truly can say that this game is one of the best games I've ever played, and remains one of my favorite games ever. This game marked my initial introduction to the Final Fantasy series and turn-based RPGs, and I'm honestly glad it was this one. The gameplay isn't all that difficult or confusing, the storyline is interesting, and its replay value is very, very high. The leveling up system is rather linear, as party members learn moves on their own. It's great for people who are new to these sort of games, as it gives you more time to focus on strategies to use in battles with your party members, giving you some time to get used to the gameplay. Game difficulty increases throughout the game as ...

  • Great addition to game collection

I've been a fan of the Final Fantasy series for years. After playing through a little of the game, I've determined that Final Fantasy IV is a pretty good game. It's not my favorite in the series, but I can see why it's popular. Characterization is promising, battle is standard ATB, and the storyline is pretty compelling. It also has your classic world exploration, which promises side-quests later on I'm sure. Haven't had much time to fully explore the game, but I'd definitely recommend it to friends and RPG gamers alike.
