Great NAS for a bargain price.
If you want to run in any of the raid modes and stream to most players/smart TV's, then this box will be a real easy setup for you. If, like me, you want to run in JBOD and you have a media player with custom software on it, it may take some tweaking. I've had this for 3 weeks, and after quite a bit of playing around I finally have it working perfectly and am very happy. One of the main, and only problems with this NAS is the documentation. It only comes with a quick startup guide. No problem, the full documentation is online. Unfortunately, the documentation spends too much time explaining what I would call "normal" stuff, and only brief mentions of things like NFS, or how to access the Twonky Software that allows you to stream to DLNA clients (the instructions were only in passing and ... Also, the server does run Plex, and although I was not going to use it, I did load it to check it out. I had no problems loading it, but as suspected, this NAS does not have the processing power to transcode on the fly. With that said, this was expected and this will be the case for most NAS you will buy unless they have a I5 or I7 processor. Unfortunately those would be a bit too expensive, and at that point you should probably build your own. Bottom line: If you're looking for a solid NAS that is bullet proof and compares favorably to other models that cost 300 dollars more, this is the NAS for you. Huge bang for the buck.
