I decided on this camera because it was less expensive, mine was refurbished and cost $108. This is my first digital camera and I am pleased. The zoom doesn't zoom in as far as I would like and the wide angle doesn't go very wide, but it takes great pictures and on "smart" mode captures very clearly what you shoot withtout making any adjustments. It has many awesome modes, including panorama where you stitch together 3 pictures to show a wide view that is too wide for one photo, vewry cool option. Also has surprising video quality and each video can be up to half an hour which is pretty awesome for a camera that fits in your pocket. Unless you are a very serious photographer who takes lots of far away zoomed in pictures, this camera is awesome!
Good camera for the money. Easy to use with very good photos and excellent video given good light conditions, slow first and follow-on shot, short battery life, no battery icon, battery charger is bulky, LCD hard to see on sunny day [like most, it needs a viewfinder], and lens doesn't close in photo review mode; e.g., if battery dies, the lens won't close until the battery is replaced.
at first i bought this camera to make a gift, but as it came in an opened i decided to try it. it was at night and my first good impression was it's white balance without using the flash, the pictures were a bit blury but the saturation colors were very real, that's one of the biggest concerns when using compacts but this was not the case, lacks of manual controls like all the ultracompacts cameras but it's performance can be considered fare among the competition like stylus 1010 or ixus 900 (which almost double the price), i recomend this camera if don't push it to the limits and it's no longer or inferior to those other canon, nikon or olympus from it's size.
I barely got this camera and was just trying it out on random things -my dogs playing, objects around the house- and it took really good pictures! It was easy to use, I love the bigger screen. My previous camera was a Canon, and it barely compares to this one! It's a great little point and shoot digital camera, reasonably priced, for anyone that just wants a camera when that occasion comes up.
This is a nice, easy to use, pocket sized camera that is reasonably priced. I looked at several cameras before settling on this one. For me it had to 1. be a Kodak so the software would be compatable with my other camera 2. have 10 megapixels or better and 3. it had to be pocket sized. This M1093IS fills all my requirements nicely. It could have a better zoom though the image stabilization feature is nice. Also, the video function on this camera is nice (you can zoom the video something my old camera does not do and you can shoot video in pretty high resolution). The only negative thing I can say about this camera is that its texure is a little bit smooth in your hands and can acually slip out of your hands when holding it if you're not careful. Like I said before, I did a fairly lot of research before settling on this camera but bear in mind I was only looking at Kodaks. If the manufacturer is not important to you then you will have many more models to look at than I did. Even so, I think the M1093IS with stack up nicely against any comparable manufacturer's model. I can tell you this though; if you want a pocket sized, reasonably priced camera that is packed with features yet is still easy to operate, you can't go wrong with this one.Read full review
