Product Information

After undergoing radical surgery for injuries from a motorcycle accident, a young woman (former adult film star Marilyn Chambers) develops a strange phallic growth on her body and a thirst for human blood -- the only nourishment that will now sustain her. Vampire-like, she prowls the city of Montreal, using her sexual powers to attract victims, who she then infects with a particularly virulent strain of rabies. In no time at all, the city is reduced to a raging mass of rabid, salivating monsters and only an army of machine-gun-wielding soldiers can subdue them. David Cronenberg's horror film explores the relationships between sex and violence, between bodily disintegration and the disintegration of society.

    David Cronenberg - need I say more? Ok, Weird & Weirder

    A young woman is injured in a horrible motorcycle accident. She is taken to an experimental plastic surgery clinic where she is "fixed" like new. Of course she aso has a weird thing growing out of her armpit - how lovely! She cannot eat normal food but uses her new armpit friend to feed on humans - jeez I wonder if they will come back in style soon? The people she feeds on foam at the mouth and go crazy. Soon it is a full blown epidemic and all over the news - which the girl never manages to see. So the police are looking for patient zero aka armpit girl. Great movie with weird and crazy plot. If you've seen Cronenberg's other films I do not need to say more. You either love his work or loathe it, there is no in between. I love it. Very original, the acting ...

    more extraordinarily weird Cronenberg finery

    A really good film dealing in the Cronenberg aspects of straight horror coupled with psychological terror. A really impressive acting performance from Marilyn Chambers. The story is really cool and the special effects are really cool. The theme of outlandish freakish physical mutation is a common one that lands in Cronenberg films and nobody even gets close to the sheer discomfort that Cronenberg creates in his films with these aspects. The story is really cool not mind blowing although the themes do resonate rather strongly in the respect that you have a man committed to the one he loves at all costs, a feeling of obligation, a person dealing with all the scarring of a horrendous aspect, an egomaniacal authority figure that tries to avert disaster at nearly all costs while trying ...
