Camera works fine but not for what I wanted.

The reason I purchased this camera was to play back HI 8 tapes recorded on a different camera many years ago. I want to use the camera as a play back device to convert my old tapes to DVD. I attempted to do this but found that the tracking differences between the two cameras won't allow this camera to pay back my old tapes. After I did some more research on this on the web I found that this seems to be a common issue with these camera. It's a shame that there's no tracking adjustment that the consumer can make. I'm going to fool with this more to see if I can get it working. Otherwise the camera records and plays tapes recorded on it fine. The problems I found, in no way reflect poorly on the seller.

  • Great Camera, but hasn't aged great

All in all, great camera. Has a lot of helpful features, cool filters, and is easy to use. Hi8 can also give a really cool aesthetic for those interested. The camera itself works great, and is a nice tool for whatever you'd want to make. I did experience some issues with transferring digitally. The camera worked fine in playback, but sometimes the cords and recording software can produce bad quality. Good quality transfer equipment can cost upwards of 100-200 dollars. May or may not be worth it, depending on the person. Great product, but can be tough to use in the modern day.

  • Old tech that still works great

Great little unit. Purchased it for dubbing off some old Hi8 tapes but will be using it for some nature photography soon.
