    Very Good, But Not Great

When I decided to buy this receiver, I knew I wasn't going to get audiophile sound quality. So, I'm not disappointed that the sound is only very good - not blow you away stupendous. I think the receiver has one of the best feature sets in its price range and it has more than enough power for my speakers. My only real complaint is that the control interface is not at all intuitive. I have no problem using almost any technology, but I definitely needed the owner's manual for this baby. Be patient and one will come along at good price. Then snap it up!

  • Great for the $$$$

I'm not a guy to write reviews but I knew I had to after the reviews I have read almost steered me away from this receiver! It is NOT hard to use! All the info is on the internet, this is coming from a tech-stupid guy who doesn't own a cell phone or on facebook like the rest of the lemmings! Sound quality is great, enough power to piss off the neighbors, and used for $250 shipped what more do you need? Bottom line, buy it if you get a good price and fully working. Yes a new Yamaha unit is $800 and probally better, so be big pimpin and whip out your credit card and shell out that big money you cant afford. Be smart, buy used and it is just as good!

  • Excellent Value & Performance

About 2 years ago I bought one of the new Breed $k/*k Compatible AVR receivers out there. Since I had prior experience with Onky0 I went with their NX-6050. All around superior receiver, excellent 4K, great sound bass, Line out to tie into my old school analog Nakamichi PA-7 Stasis power amp to drive a pair Montana EPS 2 loudspeakers. However, they ALL suffer from a major FLAW. Yamaha, Marantz, Denon, Sony, ALL of them. A cheap ass DSP HDMI board which is 90% unfixable & no stock to be found. When it fails you lose ALL sound. After I found this out, I was extremely pissed off, but eventually came to my senses & bought the Yamaha 671 AVR. Cant get the line out to work right, but it has enough juice to drive the Montana with some respectability and DOESNT have the defective HDMI board. Buy ...

  • TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, I can't say it enough. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNIT

Yamaha you should commit Seppuku. Selling this junk to the public is so disgraceful and dishonest it should become the 8th mortal sin. If you buy this unit, you will become very acquainted with "protection mode" Go ahead and look that up. Nothing like knowing your receiver can power up, but is deciding not to. Just do a youtube search and you will find all kinds of problems with these models. ( Not easy fixes ) Also, need the firmware update? I bet you will. Burn your own CD and only use a Coax Cable or Fiberoptic connection. Cause USB or HDMI will not work. Just trust me, you see a cheap Yamaha Receiver, burn the money your going to spend on it. At least you can stay warm and cuddly for a bit, not frustrated and dead inside like I am now.
