Drew Barrymore, James Woods, Robert Hays and Candy Clark star in this 1985 horror anthology film based on Stephen King's novel. Three stories revolve around a stray cat seeking to help a young girl (Barrymore). The first features a smoking addict (Woods) who joins an agency that takes extreme measures to cure their client's problem. The next features a ruthless millionaire playing a deadly game with his wife's in debt lover (Hays). The final one features the cat finding Amanda and helping her rid an evil troll trying to steal her breath. Barrymore also plays the daughter of Woods' character, Clark plays Amanda's mom and King's other characters, Cujo and Christine also make cameos. I remember this used to be on tv long ago and Barrymore & the cast are great in it. This dvd has good picture and sound, but only features the trailer. If you enjoy good 80's horror, I recommend this.Read full review
This movie is actually 3 small stories about a cat's journey rolled into one. It was written by Steven King and released in April of 1985. As the movie opens we see some recognizable characters from other Steven King works. Cujo, and Christine. The way these were added as a precursor to set the mood for the movie was cool to me. But I like Steven Kings work so that is obviously biased! Set in Wilmington NC the first scenes are out on Water Street close to the USS North Carolina and it can be seen in the shots. The actual story line is about a cat and it's journey through life. It has almost slapstick kind of humor in areas mixed with just enough horror to keep things interesting, as well as references to other mystic supernatural energies. Just as you would expect from Steven King. The first series is about "Quitters INC.", a place to help people quit smoking. The cat is picked up off the streets of NY after a long ride in a cargo truck to be a scare tactic for Quitters patients. It escapes after a brawl and very colorful exchange of words! This first part has some really funny scenes and the 1970's setting will keep you entertained if nothing else does!! The cat has visions of a girl calling for help and seems to be on a journey to find her. The next section is about the cat being an unwilling house guest to a gambler who takes it in after a bet. This section will keep you on edge as the story unfolds to reveal the ending of the gamblers career which builds up quite well. The cat finally makes its way back to Wilmington for the final scenes to help a family and the young girl in the visions destroy an evil troll living in the house. In the end the guy quits smoking, the gambler gets his just deserts, and the evil troll is destroyed. The cat now called "General" has a happy, troll free home. A horror film with comedy and a happy ending sure makes this a winner in my book. A lot of people call this a B horror movie, but it is much more. If this movie were made today with the technology and budget of similar movies it would be darn scary. I found this movie very entertaining and fun to watch and would highly recommend that you see it. Just dont expect it to be modern horror. Its right there with Pet Cemetery, It, and Steven King's other works that got better reviews. It is a very under rated movie in my opinion and well worth watching.Read full review
There is nothing - NOTHING - on film quite like the moment James Woods is sitting in his car waiting for the bridge to be lowered when he happens upon that ONE pack of smokes he'd failed to eliminate from his life. Every frame of this scene is platinum. From the way he looks around to see if he's being watched to the defiant little smile and cackle he lets out as he lights up his first smoke in days. PERFECTION. From there, it's a very quick trip to hell for this poor guy as he learns how effective Quitters Incorporated can be. Drew Barrymore plays several different roles in the wrap-around tale of the adventures of a cat who wanders from story to story - sometimes intricately involved in the plot; sometimes just a minor side note. Cat's Eye is a brilliant movie of the many faces of treachery. It's horror is drawn from the dark side that resides within each of us. It asks the question, "What would YOU do if ..." and goes on to play out precisely what most of us would do, and the cost of those choices. Don't get me wrong - this movie isn't about extolling the virtues of any certain morals, but of exploring the dark places we wouldn't choose to go unless we didn't HAVE a choice. It answers the question, "And THEN what...?" An awesome and fast-paced collection of short tales that will leave you mentally haunted and wanting more.Read full review
I remember the first time I saw this movie years ago when I was a teenager. Upon seeing this film now, I appreciated it more. It's not too frightening, like most Stephen King films (my opinion) but it has suspense & is entertaining. Nice addition to my classic film collection.

This consists of three delightfully macabre stories centering around a cat. The actors are first rate, as is the writing. Highly recommended for fans of horror movies.

Great classic Stephen King story, especially if you like lil girl Drew Barrymore, and cats. Is it dated and little cheesy, yes. But that's what makes it good. Bought it to remind my older kids, who loved it when they were little, and for my youngest who is 19 to see for the 1st time.

Cats Eye was one of My favorite movies growing up. Its a Stephen King trilogy much like Creepshow 2 except not as gore. Cats Eye consits of 3 stories which Ive titled "Quitters Inc.", "Man On A Ledge", and "General Vs. The Troll". The stories revolve around a cat and Drew Barrymore who plays more than one character. "Quitters Inc." is about a program to help people quit smoking in the most worst way. There methods are brutal and sick especially if they catch You smoking. "Man On A Ledge" is about a very wealthy man who loves to gamble on everything and makes someone a bet that they cant refuse. To scale the ledge of a very tall building. And "General Vs The Troll" the cat finds its way to a little girl whos being bothered nightly by a troll. Who would win a battle between a cat and a troll? Get the movie and find out. DVD and case are in mint condition and plays great.Read full review
