About this product

Product Information

Built by Sigma USA, the Sigma DG 50-500mm f4.5-6.3 HSM APO OS RF DG lens is available in Canon, Nikon, Sony/Minolta, Pentax, and Sigma mounts. Capture superior results for those close-ups even from long ranges away with this superior telephoto zoom lens. Nature lovers especially treasure their picture taking capabilities, as this lens has 22 elements in 6 groups for that optimal shot. Experience the right lighting with nine aperture shutter blades that keep your images bright. Create special effects with the addition of 86mm or 95mm filters that are compatible with the Sigma DG 50-500mm f4.5-6.3 HSM APO OS RF DG lenses for Canon cameras. The nine-shutter blade aperture produces photographs that are well rounded and have a smooth center focus. There is a lot to be said about the design of this Sigma lens. Constructed of rubber focus and zoom rings, the matte black finish offers a sleek look and feel. When extended to is full zoom size of 500mm, the Sigma DG 50-500mm f4.5-6.3 HSM APO OS RF DG lens measures 3.44-inches, or 87.3mm. With a weight of 69.5 ounces, this is a larger size lens that can handle all of your professional photography needs. Lock in your desired zoom with the built-in zoom lock switch and experience image stabilization for your shots. This switch is within easy reach even when the lens is attached to the camera, for convenient setting capabilities. The minimum focus distance and maximum reproduction ration is imprinted on the barrel of the lens. These specs on the front of the lens give you easy access to the focal length that delivers the maximum magnification of this device. With these specs, you make easy setting adjustments. When it comes to focusing, this lens lacks nothing. Featuring Sigma’s Signature (HSM (Hypersonic Motor), this AF (auto-focusing) system performs fast without unwanted noise. The internal focusing lens of the HSM system supports FTM (full time manual) focusing capabilities, giving you more control on what is included in each shot. A variable max aperture is standard with these lenses. With ranges from 50mm to 500mm in focal length, your camera captures wide angle photos without hesitation. Enjoy the results you get for landscaping, architectural, and group photos. This works well at increasing the sharpness for handheld picture taking and when subject framing is desired before the shot. The lighting that is achieved with the present aperture makes this the ideal lens for daytime gaming photography and brightly lit action shots. When you are using DSLR digital cameras with the Canon Sigma lens, it is common to see 2 to 2.5 stops when the aperture is open to its maximum. DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera owners won’t experience vignetting with the full frame lens either with proper aperture settings. As a result of the nine-blade aperture, the bokeh that is produced leaves professional finished photographs with soft edges. Produce bold wide-angle shots with the Sigma DG lenses.

The lens arrived today and was unpacked. In the world of used camera gear, it is crucial knowing the condition. It was not as described... IT WAS BETTER! Absolutely spectacular! I could not be happier. Great communicator. Great price. Great shipping (not blaming seller for the customs delay). Easy transaction. A+++.

I was hesitant to buy a used camera on eBay, but the other reviews eased my mind. The camera was exactly as described, and the photos were accurate. The seller contacted me right away, the shipping was lightning quick, and it came packed as if it was a brand new camera. The battery was charged, the menu was set to my language, and camera body was super clean. I'm very pleased with this seller, and would not hesitate to buy from them again!

    Happy with this purchase!

Great zoom capabilities and rivals my Canon L lenses in quality. Heavy as to be expected, definitely carry the camera by the lens not the lens by the camera. A good camera strap that not only secures the camera body but the lens as well, with the most weight bearing on the lens support. Not a lens for the faint of heart or short of breath, but will get the image in the 50-500mm zoom range. A good mono-pod works well for lower light situations. The OS (optical stabilization) works well in most handheld applications. A handful for sure, but a small price to pay for securing a WOW image.

  • SIGMA APO 50-500mm Lens

It is a fine lens, other than the locking mechanism on the zoom doesn't work. I knew that before I bought it as it was a replacement of the same lens that I had bought new a number of years ago that was dropped and not repairable.

  • Love it. A great mid-range lens for wildlife and events.

This is one heavy lense, but worth every ounce. On the beach, it brought the whales up close. Get lens, but I would recommend a stout tripod. My light weight tripod has a difficult time support (thus stabilizing) the overall lens. I have two other lenses of this caliber and they are now left in the bag. This is my go to lens. Aside from the weight, I have no complaints concerning this lens and would highly recomend it to the novice photographer. As stated in the title, this is a mid-range lens. However, it provides as much as lenses costing even double the price. It is a good way to ease in.

  • Extremely pleased with this lens.

I am extremely pleased with this lens. It is heavy and hard to hand-hold, but from a tripod and used deliberatively it is extremely sharp, has an enormous zoom range, minimal distortion and vignetting only at the very wide end shot wide open. I was a commercial shooter for nearly 40 years and now teach college level photography so I've shot lots of equipment from 8x10 on down. I cannot speak to the auto-focus because I do not use it. The stabilization, as with nearly all lenses is overrated unless you are shooting to lower res output like Photo-J, sports, etc. But shot carefully, this is a lot of lens for the money!

  • Sharp, great zoom range

Super sharp lens takes great photos. I really liked the zoom, I found myself using the full zoom range often. It has a great os system, fast focus. It closes up short enough to fit in camera bags and cases.
